[REPORT] NEAR Korea DAO Community Meetup: A Buidl.asia Side Event during ETH Seoul Week, June 2023, South Korea

We, the NEAR Korea DAO, are back with a report from our recently held community meetup, a Buidl.asia Side Event during ETH Seoul Week, June 2023, South Korea. Our sessions included:

BOS Introduction by NEAR Co-Founder Illia.
Introduction to NEAR’s Liquid Staking Platform Meta Pool by Mat.
NEAR FastAuth Co-Pilot Hours.
NEAR Social Co-Pilot Hours.
Tagging and Posting on BOS.
Q&A and Networking Time.

Participants thoroughly enjoyed the Korean chicken, pizza, and drinks that were served during the meetup. This added a delightful element of local flavor and camaraderie to the event. Additionally, attendees were delighted to receive a $200 airdrop and a collection of goods, including T-shirts, eco bags, stickers, brochures, limited edition NFTs, and more.

We took the opportunity to educate participants about BOS, attracting more attendees to sign up for and use NEAR BOS. We also distributed NEAR Meetup edition NFTs by Keypom to encourage participants to create NEAR web wallets for using dapps on NEAR, like Meta Pool, thereby expanding NEAR ecosystem adoption.

The event helped grow brand awareness, and attendees had a unique experience using NEAR FastAuth. The seamless experience of using BOS, appreciated by both web2 and web3 developers, showed its ease of use, which was particularly meaningful as Korean web2 and web3 users are generally not familiar with using web3 products.

The developer teams in attendance also found BOS easy to use and were encouraged by the positive user reactions, which sparked their interest to build on BOS. We exchanged ideas and received lots of valuable feedback, leading to new plans for advancing the Korea community. We were also able to establish a partnership with AI Network, onboard their community onto BOS, and observed actual usage of BOS.

Here are some key feedback points we collected:

1. Importance of Email Login: Developers realized the significance of allowing users to log in using their email addresses.

2. Exporting Issues: The lack of an exporting feature in the current service, which limits interactions between users and other dapps, was noted as an area for improvement.

3. Direction of the Project: Despite existing challenges, the general consensus was that the project is heading in the right direction.

4. Potential Benefits of Exporting: There was an agreement among users and developers that adding an exporting feature would significantly enhance the user experience.

5. Android and Older Phone Compatibility Issues: Some users experienced issues with signup on Android devices and older phones lacking touch login capabilities.

6. Functionality Problems: Some features, such as the “like” button, sometimes malfunctioned, even when the page was refreshed.

7. Future Development Ideas from the Meeting: The meeting provoked creative ideas for future projects. There was a discussion about creating a blend of memes, games, and DeFi into a cohesive platform. There was a shift in interest from the Binance (BNB) platform towards the NEAR BOS platform for hosting these initiatives.

8. Incompatibility with the Naver App: The service currently does not function with the Naver app. This issue needs to be resolved.

In conclusion, the meetup was a great success. Over 130 people registered, with more than 50 attendees who got a chance to experience BOS firsthand and participate in invaluable networking. The real-life experience of BOS was widely appreciated.
