Project Objectives & KPIs: Widening Adoption of NEAR:
P-1.1: Outreach to New Audiences CoA priorityContinuous outreach to new audiences is the source of new community members and ideas. That’s why we believe this priority is a cornerstone for the NDC. There are many initiatives that fall into this category and we intentionally do not want to limit what is possible. However, here are some ideas that can be explored:
-
Referral systems for the ecosystem.
-
Activation of the protocol’s daily usage through gamification mechanics (for example, leaderboards).
-
Demonstration of NEAR to non-blockchain communities:
- TradFi apps seeking exposure to DeFi yield;
- Traditional software companies seeking to offload security and risk to blockchain;*
- AI/ML data provenance;*
- Social apps with data privacy requirements and possible network effects.
- Universities engaging with developers and IT tech students)
-
Education of the local communities, creators, influencers:
- Local offline and online workshops or lectures in regional languages.
- Catchy swag
- Referral programs
- Time-bound events: NEARtober fest, NEAR advent calendar.
-
-

Challenges: When managing communities like these, encountering roadblocks is always part of the journey. In February, we faced a major challenge when 6 out of our 12 community Twitter accounts were unexpectedly suspended by Twitter. It was shocking, when accounts were suspended one after another within a span of just 2-3 days. We immediately informed the issue to HoM, who directed us to reach out to the NF Legal Team. Taking prompt action, we sent them a detailed email outlining the situation to the NF Legal Team for assistance.
Unfortunately, this setback has impacted our anticipated growth on Twitter.Apart from this, in the starting days of February IAH was not working and communities were facing issues in onboarding their members to IAH. But later it was fixed by the OPS team. And, for now communities started their onboarding to IAH.
Detailed KPIs & Impact on Ecosystem
-
Wallet Creation and IAH Verification: Globe DAO’s communities enabled over 3.4K+ wallets, enhancing accessibility to the NEAR ecosystem. Despite our success in wallet creation, some users encountered difficulties with IAH verification due to technical issues on the site. We promptly raised this issue with HoM and it was solved. We opted not to track IAH growth as it was difficult to make sure if they are newly verified or not.
Nevertheless, our regional communities managed to make a big impact in the VB polls, with approximately 55-60% of voters originating from these communities. Importantly, we maintained a fair approach throughout and never encouraged individuals to vote in exchange for incentives. While there was one instance of promotion through Zealy, this was addressed and resolved, serving as the primary issue. Our primary intention was to empower communities to voice their opinions, without any promotion or encouragement for voting in exchange for incentives.
-
Online/Offline Events: In February, we conducted a total of 43 online and offline activities, along with 25 development sessions. These activities ranged from engaging AMAs to workshops and educational sessions specifically for developers. It creates community interaction and facilitate knowledge-sharing among our members.
-
Partnerships with non-blockchain communities: 9 strategic partnerships with non-blockchain communities. These partnership includes partnership with TradFi apps, Traditional software companies, Social apps, AI/ML data provenance initiatives, and universities engaging with developers and IT tech students. Sharing some highlights from these partnerships:
-
Near Vietnam partnership with ZenS - a Web2 software company specializing in the fields of:
- Website design;
- Web App design;
- Business CRM-ERP Solutions;
- LMS System
- NEAR ES partnership with NEAR Hacking Team, a non-blockchain community that addresses Cybersecurity and Forensic Analysis, and NEAR ES was invited to give a presentation about the NEAR Protocol in their first event: Hacking & Beer.
- NEAR India University Event with Tech students, “Konark-The Chariot of innovation”
-
Transactions through gamification & HOT Wallet event: To promote the usage of dApps, we implemented gamification events on Zealy and other platforms. These events encouraged users to explore and engage with various decentralized applications on the NEAR platform. As a result of these initiatives, we garnered over 245K+ transactions from newly onboarded NEAR wallets. This not only drives adoption but also highlights the potential for gamification in increasing user engagement within the NEAR ecosystem.
-
How we calculated this?
- We asked all the community leaders to collect newly onboarded wallets from their community and to attach their pikespeak link in a sheet and write the number of transactions of each wallet. However, as we all know currently we don’t have any tracking dashboard. We councils personally checked a few random wallets from the list of each guild if the numbers are really true. Although, stats were correct but still we think it’s approx. numbers not the exact numbers. We believe there might be a 5-10% difference in these stats (can be lower or higher). Hopefully, we will have a dashboard soon for tracking so that we can track exact growth.
-
Dev Training Sessions: Our dedicated developer training sessions were designed to equip aspiring developers with the essential tools and resources needed to build on the NEAR platform. These sessions aimed to empower developers with the knowledge and skills required in the NEAR ecosystem, for innovation and growth within our community.
