I am very happy to belong to this community. I know that I am beeing useful on several projects and now I am really proud for being smart enough to commit my self with the NEAR community full time
I just finished my 10 day immersion as a Community Moderator so I am here this time to share this awesome experience.
I take the 8 hour shift seriously. I regularly start the days at 8.30 am and work with some breaks until 6:00 pm (12:30 pm UTC - 10:00 pm UTC), unless I had to do something personal so I work with more breaks and the shift is extended until 11:00 pm (3:00 am UTC - next day)
What I did every day was:
Welcome/Interact with members of the Telegram, Discord, Reddit, and even this great forum.
Provide support to our members in any issue they may have and redirect them to specific channels.
Make sure to flag any scammer/spammer within our communication channels.
Share tweets and other NEAR related announcements on the channels.
Take care of users driven from the main channels to smaller ones like the Merchants of Near or Spanish Language groups/channels on the discord server or even telegram groups like the NEAR HISPANO GUILD.
Main issues I have encountered
Bot attack on the telegram main group → @KriptoRaptor is always there solving/protecting
Blank screen when loading wallet.near.org on Firefox and Brave → Solution: Opera Browser
Binance wallet service for NEAR network suspended → Solution: P2P DEX FIAT/CRYPTO
A lot of users are confused when creating a wallet by the error message: The account wouldnt have enough balance to cover storage… → Solution: Add a tip about manual deposit on the error message
Side Quests
Helping with moderation on the Forum and earned the badge “Flagged Post”
There was a few spammers, impersonators, someone sharing private keys, and sharing links on how to exploit binance security that were spoted fast and erased/banned, but still I was able to keep the following record for other cases:
I assisted/welcomed between 10 to 30 community members per day.
Spotted approx 1 bad actor per day.
Every day I help connecting different community members on related tasks / jobs / projects.
It was a fun week, I had a great time sharing intensely with the community.
I learn a lot, now I have more experience about NEAR dApps, opportunities, issues, common questions. I will be here to keep learning and I will use my knowledge for helping other members with all my means. @jcatnear
