(Mission, Vision, Core programs and how they align with NDC’s NDC CoA Vision, team, and requested budget for the next three months Dec, Jan, Feb)

Chatafisha is a Regenerative Finance project based in Tanzania that operates as a DAO with a vision of gathering Web3 and ReFi enthusiasts to learn and build a robust Web3 ecosystem through education, sustainability, pilot application, and talent nurturing.

We onboard the next generation of regenerators with the know-how and benefits of building on a carbon friendly chain such as NEAR as well as onboard marginalized communities to Web3.

Core Programs:

  • We want to market “sustainability using technology” and onboard sustainability stakeholders to utilize NFTs as impact certificates on NEAR through our carbon-backed marketplace as well as other platforms such as Mintbase, Paras and many more. We aim to market NEAR as the go-to chain for building ReFi (Regenerative Finance)& sustainability projects

  • Build a local NEAR node and Introduce a learn2earn model to attract and onboard more users to NEAR through our gamification system and leaderboard. By:

  • Leveraging climateTECH ecosystem (ReFi)

  • Translating web3 terminologies to Kiswahili

  • Toolkits and whitepaper

Onboard next wave of regens to build on NEAR and make use of their seamless onboarding, Near wallets and Near names.

  • We decentralize education in NEAR by attracting experts and motivating them to create lectures/courses for NEAR education
  • Building a permissionless credit class methodology that can be replicated throughout various communities in the global south. This means that various communities all over the world will be able to use the methodology and streamline verified ecological credits (We are working with Regen Network on this)

Chatafisha objectives:

  • Attracting experts, NGOs and non-web3 organizations offsetting their footprint in the ReFi field to support the NEAR ecosystem through outreach and Chatafisha Carbon-backed NFT marketplace.
  • Transform them into educators for decentralized education for NEAR and motivate them to collaborate to create competitively high quality education content for NEAR through train the trainer program
  • Motivate them to attract their peers and students to learn about Web3, ReFi, NEAR, and dev through their lecturing and mentoring, to create a trained dev&tech community for NEAR in Tanzania and Swahili
  • Account acquisition and on-chain activities through a learning process with lecturers and affiliates. (Impact2earn model)
  • Transparency and accountability for community led community building
  • Chatafisha is designed to optimize the cost for account acquisition by the time.

Language:

  • Main language in the forum and Tech Series: English
  • Course: English or local language (Swahili)

KPI, Milestones, and Budgets:

Chatafisha initiative is designed to contribute to the ecosystem in multi-levels by the time and the executive strategy chosen is step-by-step to ensure the quality and risk control.

Milestone 1: Account Acquisition & Impact2Earn model gamification (by Chatafisha)

  • Gamification of carbon-backed NFT marketplace with Leaderboards,
    • Test and quiz systems for members, as well as gamification with leaderboards
    • NEAR on-chain POAP completion certificate / NFT

KPIs:

  • ReFi on NEAR bi weekly Twitter spaces
  • 100 new NEAR accounts, BOS profiles

  • At least 2 irl events and workshops with NGOs, startups and sustainability organizations to NEAR and Chatafisha platform on NEAR

Chatafisha is working to grow and retain not only builders to develop NEAR Ecosystem and build climate solutions, but also non web3 organizations. However, we believe it is a gradual process that needs to test & optimize in each step to improve the efficiency in operations and optimize funding/performance. Therefore, we select a step-by-step approach to implement and execute further plans to contribute to the NEAR ecosystem.

Topics of interests by Chatafisha to focus but not limited to: Rust programming, Regenerative Finance (ReFi), BOS development, Defi, NFT, Gaming, NEAR dapp and smart contract programming, Enterprise blockchain, Account Abstraction, DAO and governance structures as well as different NEAR Technologies.

  • First time period: $9/ account acquisition (lower than the current cost of account acquisition at NDC), with the requirement that the account has to learn and complete at least 25% of our challenge.
  • When the total incentive exceeds the incentive pool due to a high number of new user acquisition, the incentive per account will be: The incentive pool amount / total number of new user acquisition. This is our way to optimize the user acquisition cost by time, supporting one of the important objectives of NDC.

How can your DAO / Project achieve NDC priorities, goals, and KPIs?

Chatafisha achieves NDC Core Value through:

  • Empowering NEAR Ecosystem Decentralization: Chatafisha is a ReFi led community and provides incentives to attract talents to create next generation talents for NEAR ecosystem.
  • Renowned by ecosystem: all results in Chatafisha are reliable, transparent and accountable in the software system.
  • Committed to decentralization: The solution is scalable, open source and organized in a decentralized way to motivate community experts to educate the community. The total incentive for user acquisition is also fixed at an upper bound monthly to optimize the cost per account acquisition.
  • Efficient operation: cost of account acquisition is lower than the current cost of account acquisition and the cost is optimized by the time.

Chatafisha achieves NDC priorities through:

  • Outreach to new local sustainability experts in ReFi to NEAR, new marginalized and non-web3 communities, to learn about blockchain and be onboarded to NEAR, as well as train existing members with knowledge and coding skills.
  • Chatafisha helps educate local communities including both tech & non-tech people, non-blockchain tech experts, and ReFi KOL (through local language courses) and global communities (through English as main language) to have better tech knowledge and dev skills as well as how to interact with NEAR dApps and make the most of NEAR’s carbon friendliness.
  • Chatafisha aims to help improve NDC operations through attracting new contributors and transparent results tracking with a clear report dashboard.

  • Projected Budget for the improvements in 5,000$ allocated to software improvement, community engagements, referral system incentive, and operational expenses.

  • What is the length of Commitment to Delivering Your Project? Will your team be working on this project full time? Chatafisha is already working full time on the project. We are building on NEAR and aim to onboard and improve developments on the NEAR blockchain as well as align with NDC priorities.

  • Will your team be fully remunerated from this budget? No, the team will be remunerated only partially from this budget. We are also requesting a partial grant support for the software improvement cost for our dev team to integrate and develop features to support NEAR and Chatafisha.

Section 9. Project/DAO longevity

  • Does your project/DAO require one-time or continuous funding?

We will require one time funding to ensure a runway and completion of the mvp revampment. We are currently working on ways for sustainable financial sources.

  • Will your DAO/Project devise a way of sustaining itself after this round of funding?

Chatafisha is currently working towards achieving better results and supporting NDC operations and priorities efficiently in time. We are working to develop a sustainable revenue model.

  • What are the possible roadblocks to the success of your project/DAO?

Despite Regenerative Finance being a new concept, we firmly believe it is one of the utmost real use cases for crypto, web3. We are aiming to make most of NEAR’s carbon negative chain and friendly onboarding to onboard the next wave of regenerators, NGOs, startups and non-web3 organizations. Localization & extensive funding could be a possible roadblock for Chatafisha.

We have already launched on NEAR mainnet and are currently onboarding active users. Starting with Tanzania, we believe this added synergy will enable us to achieve our goals as well as widen NEAR adoption in the global south communities.

Hi @Machuche can you please provide the following points?

  • outline how much funding was given through NEAR Foundaiton
  • architecture of how impact creidts would work, i would recommend hitting up Elijah Spinah about using Hyperfiles as this is what is being devleoped as a robust attestations framework being used for PotLock
  • by wallet connect i think you mean for wallet selector
  • want to know current traction to date with project
  • please justify using the graph
  • for translating terminologies will it be integrated by localizing

Questions

  • Do you have a carbon offsetters currently?
  • What is the traction to date?

Hey Aescobar,

  • We got a grant of 20,000$ from the previous Regional Hub in East Africa (September 2022)

  • We have a design on how it would work you can check out a bit here: Chatafisha d’App - Google Drive

  • We’re also very familiar with Potlock, Would be great to connect with Elijah on that as well for the attestations and see how it can be integrated.

  • Yes indeed, by wallet connect I was referring to wallet selector for different wallets in the NEAR ecosystem

  • We currently have on boarded 10 waste collection points, and 40 students from the University of Dar es salaam under chatafisha.near, where we are currently doing a pilot for 5 Tonnes.

  • We are planning to use the graph for indexing and tracking metrics such as the number of NFTs claimed as well as no. of accounts under chatafisha.near, and no. of users who have exchanged their carbon-backed NFTs for eco credits.

  • As for translating terminologies, we are planning on translating web3 terminologies and NEAR ecosystem terms in our local language and integrating them in dApps. We have already translated the NEAR mobile wallet app to Swahili, waiting on the updated version. (Near-mobile Swahili by Rasta669 · Pull Request #391 · Peersyst/near-mobile-wallet · GitHub )

Response to the questions:

  1. We have been recently onboarded to Regen Network’s cohort of Community Staking DAOs to develop a permissionless credit class methodology for waste that can be replicated all over the global south. We have soft commits from 3 major organizations in Tanzania to offset their footprint and streamline eco credits through Regen network’s marketplace. (https://app.regen.network)
  2. As for traction, we have onboarded 10 collection points, 40 students and 2 Green NGOs who are going to upload proof of impact and be verified.

Hi @Machuche something bring to my concern, regarding https://marketplace.chatafisha.com/

From my perspective this project isn’t active for quiet some time since there is no wallet selector integrated, the project that are active must have wallet selector integrated.

Wallet.near.org will fully stop operating on 15th of January

Hi again @Aescobar It’s been active, we were working on fixing some smart contract issues initially. We are actually looking to allocate some of the funds to integrate the wallet selector
