Intro
Raikumo is a collectible trading card game with a focus on 1v1 gameplay against other players.
Concept
- Raikumo (Japanese for "Stormy Clouds"雷雨雲 )
- Raikumo exists to fulfill both the collector and the competitor
- Current mainstream competitive TCG landscape is mainly games like Hearthstone, Magic, Yugioh, Pokemon
- Those games have high entry barriers in terms of cost and given current state of the world, it’s hard to attend live
tournaments - Need a game that is both easily accessible online and has low entry barrier
NFTs (general stats and how they tie in)
-Every day, there are 2 million people who play with the little blobs of Axie Infinity, which now has a valuation of $3 billion. “Gaming is really exciting, as you already have billions of people who are buying digital goods inside of games,” said Devin Finzer, CEO of OpenSea, the largest NFT platform. The reason we haven’t yet seen an even wider adoption, said Finzer, is that “the development cycle is a little longer with games than with simpler arts and collectible projects. There’s a little more of a delay.” He imagines we’ll see the fruits of these developments within a year or two.
Jamie Burke, CEO of Outlier Ventures (a U.K.-based blockchain VC and accelerator lab), was originally encouraged by research showing that “people spend five times more in a blockchain game than in a conventional game.” He said that skeptics originally “poo-pooed” this research, but then came Axie. The Axie juggernaut is proof, said Burke, that if the gamer can exit the game and cash out with crypto, and if they’re free to “do whatever the hell they want with the money,” then they’ll spend more money. “It feels really obvious now,” he said, predicting that Axie is just the very beginning of a much larger boom in gaming that will be “huge in the next decade.” (quoted from ; coindesk)
- So what is NFT? Well according to the wikipedia NFT is A non-fungible token is a non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a blockchain, a form of digital ledger, that can be sold and traded. Types of NFT data units may be associated with digital files such as photos, videos, and audio.
-The Benefits of Gaming NFTs Although many NFTs use Ethereum’s ERC-721 token standard, NFTs are also prevalent on several other networks, such as TRON (Blockchain Cuties), EOS (EOS Knights), NEO (Blocklords), and in our case NEAR. The many benefits of decentralized gameplay include:
-Ownership: Traditional in-game purchases are one-time, non-transferrable investments that remain locked in a single gaming world. In contrast, using NFTs in gaming environments grants players ownership of their in-game assets instead of game developers. Through blockchain technology, gamers can save in-game purchases, sell them to other players, or move them into other supported games.
-Provable Scarcity: Collectors value rarity and authenticity, and the scarcity of in-game NFT purchases is provable through the immutable records embedded in an NFT’s underlying blockchain network. This distributed public ledger validates the number and uniqueness of each NFT as well as its ownership history.
-Interoperability: Traditional online games exist on centralized servers. As such, in-game assets exist within proprietary systems that don’t communicate with others. In contrast, decentralized games exist on independent blockchains that act as the backend framework for other interconnected games. As a result, game assets represented by NFTs can be designed to be interoperable across different environments. For instance, two games built on the Ethereum network can feasibly support the same in-game assets like vehicles, armor, or even entire characters
-Immutability: When a traditional online game shuts down, users traditionally lose all of their in-game purchases. NFTs, however, exist independently of a specific gaming platform and live on the blockchain itself. As such, in-game purchases can be bought and sold regardless of what happens to the game, and new games can be designed to plug into an existing blockchain protocol. Furthermore, blockchain-enabled game assets cannot be duplicated or tampered with because of the permanent record each NFT generates upon issuance.

NFT VOLUME
-OpenSea’s record-high volume on Sunday, as per Dune Analytics, was $261 million. Thus far in January, OpenSea has broken $169 million in trading volume for each day.
GameFi (general thoughts and how to improve)
- The GameFi space have been pretty stale in development in which most project are simply focusing on glorified yield farming with some game charateristics, rather than developing a good game itself. This is where raikumo comes around.
- Raikumo seeks to provide its players with one of a kind experience, with a balanced and well developed game focusing on the aspect of pure skill and competition on the player. Not only that Raikumo also rewards it’s good player, those that are willing to learn are rewarded literally, hence we are certain it will incentivize and motivate the players to deeply learn and play Raikumo therefore increasing competition and the prestige of Raikumo, which in turn would draw in more attention from the general gaming space & public.
- The card game industry is a vast multi billion dollar marketcap area with lots of untapped potential
- Parallel (a digital trading card game on ethereum) had 61k ether trading volume on opensea
