Discord metrics analysis
To begin with this report, I will summarize the activity in my main channel, Discord, with the metrics provided by this platform.
This week (07/24)-(08/04) has been a decent one to NEAR´s discord channel regarding to new members, however, the number of communicators (who are new members of the server that as soon as they join they write in any specific channel) went down considerably, arround -16% compared to the previous week. In addition, the member retention (Percentage of new members that still came back to the server the week after joining) suffered a strong fall, -39% compared to the previous week too. Official discord metrics show these stats.
Discord also provide us with the following chart, that shows exactly the amount of new members per day:
As we can see, August the first was the peak day of new members, almost 300 people joined the server, when the other days this quantity was never bigger than 100 members.
On the other hand, the 1st of august was also a peak day of dropouts in the server, this may be related to bots joining the server, i personally banned a several amount of bots and scammers, this is something that we should pay attention to, because scammers proved to be a huge problem within crypto communities.
The following chart shows this information per day:
The average leavers per day this week was 40 users per day, it seems high but in percentage of the number of members is pretty low.
But we can’t leave aside the fact that members that have been in the server for more than one month and leave are the least, showing the strength of our community. Except from the 1st of august, Leavers per day were never more than 70, and most of the days never more than 20, which is something really important given the quantity of members NEAR has on it´s discord server.
The quantity of communicators was excellent this week, much better than the previous one, mainly because during this week almost every day the percentage of communicators was around 20% or 25%, which is a pretty decent number, it shows activity and interest from new members. I strongly believe that having an interested community is better than having a large and inactive community, so I am happy with these numbers! Although this percentage could be better, we are doing well and this number will increase, I am sure.
When it comes to personal accomplishments, I would say that I am becoming more and more effective when it comes to support, by improving my social skills and knowledge within the community, I am also getting known among the members of Discord and I feel extremely comfortable with everyone.
To conclude i´d like to mention my goals for the next weeks, i am going to make a decision about which bot fits best to the discord channel in order to give welcome messages, and also doing giveaways or making our members vote how they´d like the bot to be named, because these things make the community feel engaged to NEAR, and engagement is key to success.
