Building on NEAR: The LazyFi journey

Hello everyone, I am Reza, Co-founder of LazyFi, the first play to learn dapp built on the NEAR protocol. We are excited to announce our upcoming testnet campaign and wanted to share more information about LazyFi, how we got started, and our experience building on NEAR.|

LazyFi is an educational gaming platform that connects organizations with their audience and allows them to tap into their knowledge about products, services, and communication. Projects can easily create and launch their own branded learn and earn campaigns and use the power of gaming to gather valuable, comprehension-based analytics. Imagine playing a game like Mario, but when you hit an obstacle and die, a question about your company appears. If you answer correctly, you come back to life and continue playing the game!

Before pivoting to the web 3.0 space, we were a play-to-learn Japanese language game inspired by the old “choose your own adventure” books. In short, a crime had been committed and players had to use their Japanese language skills to solve the mystery. We built a successful proof-of-concept and were mentored by LEGO Ventures.

We approached NEAR in early 2022 and were met with a lot of enthusiasm and support, as well as a grant to work on our idea. Fast forward 11 months and here we are today! We are grateful that NEAR took a chance on us and are committed to giving back to the ecosystem.

There are several pros to building on NEAR, including the Pagoda console, an enagged community, as well as a fast, scalable, carbon-neutral technology. Other key technology features such as account abstraction and sharding also make it a great choice to build on.

For those just starting out on their own building journey, I would recommend focusing on community, tech, and legal considerations. Funding can be difficult to secure, so it’s important to have a solid plan in place. Without no tech/ product its hard to build a community, and vice vera. It’s a chicken and eg problem, so best to do both in tandem when you’re ready. It’s also helpful to reach out to key players in the community who can help spread the word about your project. Last but not least, the largest elephant in the room, legal issues – jurisdiction matters a lot and it’s important to get proper advice. I believe there is a legal dao but I am also hapy to make introductions if a UK lawyer is needed.

Would also like to shout out some of the key people who have supported us and helped us in so many ways:
Nakameowdough
D.leer
Marcus from NF
Ismail Bagosher
NEARWeek team

They were super helpful in our journey from ideation to delivering a working MVP. and building a community around the Lazyfi mission.

Finally we have a competition in our second round of testnet where the most active community can win 120 $NEAR! Register here app(.)lazyfi(.)gg
