[REPORT] NEAR representative at the 2022 European Blockchain Conference in Barcelona

Hey Near Community,

I hope you had a nice weekend and are doing well!

I would like to share with you my report from the European Blockchain Convention. I had already posted the report in the proposal, but I thought for the overview it would be good to share it again separately.

As part of the Project Ops team (which is a sub-team of the NEAR @ConciergeTeam), I was a NEAR representative at the European Blockchain Convention from June 26-28. The largest blockchain convention in Barcelona with about 1,500 visitors, over 60 sponsors and 200 media partners.

The first evening was organized especially for VIP guests, so I already had the first conversations and made great contacts.

June 27 and 28, on the other hand, were filled with talks on various topics such as Legal, CBDCs, NFTs, Metaverse, Self-Sovereign Identity and much more.

Instead of 20 contacts as planned, I made a total of 54 new contacts from various industries over the 2.5 days.

Some of these contacts work for companies that I would like to onboard on Near or as partners of the Project Ops team and introduce to you herewith:

Sidenote: I got Covid the day I came back from Barcelona, so I had to postpone many appointments because I was sick for more than 3 weeks.

Currently the platform is still in development and the launch has been postponed a bit due to poor market conditions, but I had an appointment today with Tanja and Max who are very confident to launch Q4 and have great interest to develop on NEAR.

» Farm.xyz
Farm.xyz is a farm aggregator where users have the ability to purchase farms from pools of different providers and blockchains. The company is currently seeking funding to launch the platform later this year.

AhoyConnect is a marketing tool that allows you to aggregate all of a community member’s data across all platforms. We at ConciergeTeam could use such a tool, because we want to reward the most active members with airdrops or future incentives and this is possible with this tool. I have asked if it is possible to include NEAR Wallet activity in the user’s valuation and we will see if it is possible.

In hindsight, I would have liked the panels to go into more depth on the topics. In addition, the panels were very tightly scheduled, so that there was little time for doing QAs, which I also found a pity.

But overall, the event was a great success. I made 116% more contacts than planned, am in talks with several projects to launch on Near, and also promoted NEAR by wearing my NEAR hoodie.

Fun Fact: Afterwards, I learned from @shreyas that even Near employees were at the event. :sweat_smile:

  • There are only 3 mn P2E players worldwide
  • The main problem is the ecosystem that doesn’t exist at the moment like it does in the traditional gaming sector
  • There are more people with crypto wallets than credit cards in the Philippines
  • Asian market will lead the growth in P2E
  • Incentives are very important
  • People will make a lot of money with the NFTs
  • Younger generation will have a wallet before they will have a bank account
  • Value of the community is key to build a successful and valuable game
