When You Stand Between Ife and Oyo

I’ve been torn lately.
Torn between two paths.
Two callings.
Two futures.
Each with its own promise… and its own cost.
I thought I had to choose.
I thought if I chased one, the other had to die.
Until Yoruba history showed me what I’d been missing.
Courtesy of those fighting for who should be the leader between Ọọni and Aláàfin.
Because I realized, hidden inside that conflict…
was the very answer to what’s been troubling me.
Two leaders.
Two truths.
Two forces that shaped a civilization.

One path called to my spirit.
It felt ancient. Rooted. Sacred.
This was the path of meaning, not movement.
A quiet call to build something eternal.
To be a steward of something pure.
It whispered:
“Be still. Go inward. Shape culture. Guide souls.”
And I felt at peace in its presence.

Then there was the other path.
Pragmatic. Strategic. Expansive.
is all I can feel about this.
It didn’t care for symbolism.
It wanted results.
It said:
“Stand up. Build. Dominate. Expand.”
I felt motivated. My Adrenaline flare up. It challenge my inner self.
And I craves that challenge.

SO HERE I WAS, TORN BETWEEN TWO DECISIONS AND TWO PATH
One pure.
The other powerful.
One spiritual.
The other strategic.
I kept asking:
“Which one should I choose?”
But that was the wrong question.

I was stuck for years asking this question.
I Finally made a breakthrough,
When I got inspired by the one known as the progenitor of the both Ooni and Aláàfin
ODUDUWA.
Oduduwa didn’t choose.
He birthed both.
From one man came both kingdoms.
From one soul, two legacies.
Ooni wasn’t better than Aláàfin.
Aláàfin wasn’t stronger than Ooni.
They were different dimensions of the same destiny.
So maybe…
I’m not here to choose a path.
I’m here to become the kind of person who can hold both.
