[Proposal] Integration of FIO Identities with .aurora and .near Identities
Section 1: DAO/Project Information
- Organization Name: Layerless
- Proposal Title: FIO-Near-Aurora Cross-Chain Identity Integration
- DAO Established: 10/1/2023
- DAO’s Category: AC DAO
- Project’s Category: AC DAO
Project Overview:
Layerless aims to build on its work of providing interoperability between Near and Aurora and other EVM chains at the network level to the application level. By integrating FIO TLD identities with .aurora and .near identities while utilizing Near’s chain abstraction and cross-chain messaging services, this integration will enable secure and interoperable identity verification and extend cross-chain messaging across (dApps) on Near and Aurora, to third-party blockchains.
Mission:
Our mission is to establish a unified, decentralized identity management framework that will facilitate secure cross-chain messaging and enhance interoperability between dApps across the Near, Aurora, and other blockchain ecosystems.
Vision:
To empower users with seamless cross-chain identity experiences that eliminate barriers in managing digital identities across multiple networks, thus improving security and liquidity in the growing decentralized space.
Core Programs and Goals:
- Identity Integration: Enable seamless management of identities by linking FIO identities with .aurora and .near identities.
- Cross-Chain Messaging: Deploy a secure messaging service that allows users to communicate across chains while maintaining data integrity and privacy.
- Cross-Chain Asset Transfers: Facilitate asset transfers and interoperability between Aurora/Near and third-party chains, leveraging Near’s chain abstraction technology.
- Secure Interoperability: Ensure all messaging and transfers are secure, utilizing LayerZero endpoints and a decentralized audit trail.

Section 7: Charter/Goals
Problem:
Managing digital identities across multiple chains remains cumbersome and poses security challenges. Our proposal seeks to enable seamless identity management between FIO, .aurora, and .near identities while introducing secure cross-chain, peer-to-peer, inter-application messaging.
Solution & Alignment:
This proposal aligns with NDC’s goals by building on LayerZero to support secure, bridge-less transfers of assets and data between Aurora, Near, and other EVM chains with LayerZero endpoints.
Roadmap:
- Q2 2024:** Finalize protocol design for Layerless-FIO integration with Aurora
- Q2 2024:**
- Implement FIO identity linking to .aurora and .near identities
- Deploy Near’s secure cross-chain messaging protocol to service
- Q2 2024:** Launch and audit the integrated identity and messaging framework
Section 8: Budget
Projected Budget (2 months, USD):
- Integration Development: $3,500
- Smart Contract Audit & Testing: $1,500
- Cross-Chain Messaging Audit & Testing: $1,000
Section 9: Project Longevity
- Funding Requirement: One-time
- Self-Sustainability: Yes, through identity registration, cross-chain messaging and interoperability fees
- Roadblocks: Potential challenges include user onboarding friction and reluctance toward adopting Aurora NFTs
Conclusion:
This grant application seeks funding to integrate FIO TLDN identities with .aurora and .near identities, leveraging Layerless’s inter-chain decentralized information management protocol currently under development with Aurtora Labs. This integration will create a unified framework, ensuring seamless cross-chain communication and interoperability between Near, Aurora, and third-party chains. This initiative will provide significant value to the Near community and beyond by providing the underpinning for persistent identity across chains and secure digital identity management across the web3 landscape.
