PROJECT SYNOPSIS:
It is a known fact in the world today, that stress levels in personal and professional lives are on the rise. Over time, people have developed various coping mechanisms which range from productive pastimes to outright harmful ones.
Particularly affected are the youth who constantly fight a losing battle with peer pressure, drug addiction and the lure of a fast life made possible by means outside the law. Mental health has become a big issue with 166 million youths suffering from various forms of depression globally.
If music is a soothing balm for the soul that spans across different cultures and philosophies, dance is the language through which it lives – a language beyond words.
Over the centuries, dance has been known to unite people as it focuses on the more positive aspects of our personalities – it is an art form that thrives on happiness, joy, peace and tranquility.
Dance allows people to be more active, socialize and develop creative and physical skills. Just a few of the benefits increased exercise dancing can give you are reduced stress levels, improved relaxation, stronger bones & muscles, weight control and a healthier brain.
With this in mind, DANCE DAO hereby proposes a NEAR Dance Therapy and Education Initiative. This project will use dance as a tool to interface, engage and sensitize them to the benefits of the Near Protocol, and ultimately onboard them.
PROJECT SUMMARY
To establish a Dance Therapy Class and Competition with the aim of propagating the NEAR protocol, while providing relief from mental health issues to youth.
10 Beneficiaries will attend dance therapy classes for 4 weekends after which there will be a dance competition for 2 weekends.
Prizes will be given with Near Tokens and cash.
Phase one (Onboarding)
A dance school will be engaged for 4 weekends.
What the beneficiaries get:
- Dance training
- Help with opening their wallets. They also in turn must open 5 wallets each to participate in the final competition
- Near Education and Sensitization talks
- Food and drinks
Phase 2 - Going “Live”
Having secured about 80 subscribers by the 4th week, we will begin the competition with prizes awarded to the best 3 youths.
Phase 3 - Continued Onboarding
Beneficiaries are encouraged to come with their friends to subsequent sessions, which creates more opportunities for onboarding.
VENUE & INSTRUCTORS:
The most logical venue to use is a dance school as it provides everything required in one package – instructors, hall, convenience, security, and refreshment areas are all accounted for.
The dance school will also be doubling as a brand ambassador for NEAR, by introducing it to their already existing clientele who are mainly upwardly mobile, young adults.
BUDGET:
- Subsidized cost of dance therapy/instruction for 10 beneficiaries - $400
- Fliers, banners, infographics in dance school lobby walls for active and passive Near education - $100
- Logistics - $80
- Prize money:
- 1st Place - $150
- 2nd Place - $100
- 3rd Place - $50
Total: $880
