[PROPOSAL] Castle Overlord - An NFT-Powered Multiplayer Strategy Game

PITCH

Castle Overlord is a multiplayer strategy game inspired by Clash Royale and Plants vs. Zombies. Players can collect various NFTs such as troopers, towers, and castles, and use them to battle each other on the battlefield. Winning a battle will yield resources, and players can use the resources to strengthen their units or purchase various items. Players can also download the 3D models of their owned NFTs to use in their own projects, or to be 3D-printed into toys.

OUR VISION

As a game development company with 12 years of experience, we wanted to leverage our strength and focus on product quality. Our vision is to deliver a blockchain game which is truly gamer-oriented, with NFTs that have high utility value and not merely collectibles. We want our players to feel that they really own their digital assets, which is why we give them the ability to play with, upgrade, and download the 3D models of their NFTs. We look forward to seeing how the players will utilize their NFTs and showcase their creativity.

PARTNERSHIP

Castle Overlord is a fruit of collaboration between Nightspade and Paras. As the largest NFT marketplace on NEAR Protocol, Paras’ expertise in navigating the NFT space is crucial in the success of Castle Overlord. Paras provided us with initial funding, feedback along the development process, and various marketing and networking opportunities.

PROGRESS

The Castle Overlord project has completed its first major milestone, which we call Phase 1. This means the first NFT collection and the first game beta has been released. In the first collection, we offer a selection of NFT troopers that consist of three factions: Steampunk, Samurai, and Military. The game’s beta already supports NFT integration, and players can play assault battles against AI-controlled enemies (PvE). Non-holders can also try the game for free, but they won’t be able to earn rewards.

Currently, the team has begun the development of Phase 2. This milestone consists of more NFT variations and new game features such as NFT upgrade and players leaderboard.

MONETIZATION

Castle Overlord is built on top of the NEAR Protocol blockchain. Every NFT and in-game resource is treated as an on-chain token. We offer users the ability to purchase NFTs, but in the future, we’re also looking to implement resource token trading. Our first NFT collection consists of troopers divided into three factions: Steampunk, Samurai, and Military. Moving forward, we will release more factions and more NFT types (castles and towers).

Players can mint the NFTs directly from our website, and trade their owned NFTs in the Paras marketplace. We offer a selection of Booster Packs that users can purchase to mint the NFT units. We gain revenue through NFT minting, the royalty of NFT trading, and also resource token purchase in the future.

USER EARNINGS

Every resource in Castle Overlord is treated as a cryptocurrency token, and they are distributed in a limited quantity. There are six types of resource in the game::

  • Gold ($COGLD) : 10,000,000,000 tokens
  • Red Gem ($CORED) : 1,000,000,000 tokens
  • Blue Gem ($COBLU) : 1,000,000,000 tokens
  • Green Gem ($COGRN) : 1,000,000,000 tokens
  • Yellow Gem ($COYLW) : 1,000,000,000 tokens
  • Black Gem ($COBLK) : 1,000,000,000 tokens

Players earn these resources by playing the game and winning battles. They can then choose to spend these resources to buy various in-game items, or upgrade their NFTs. We are also planning to implement resource token trading, so the players will be able to buy and sell resource tokens directly from the market. The balance between token in-game spending and token trading will make sure that there is no oversupply and the value of our tokens will be maintained.

By default, the amount of resources a player can collect daily is limited to a certain amount. But this limit can be increased by collecting more NFTs and having stronger NFTs. Thus, playing the game is an important investment to gain tokens effectively. This will be the core concept of our play-to-earn aspect.

We also offer investment in the form of tokens purchase. The token percentage allocation is as follows:

  • Play-to-Earn Allocation : 60%

I do not support this proposal.
I think the spending of budget is wrong. Do not forget that %50-70 of the building cost of a project is advertising. For this kind of project, you need to have a minimum advertising budget of $200-250k. otherwise, the life of the game will be several months.

I know many people who have made this type of mistake before and bankrupted the companies.
