TLDR
Seed Club is running the Social Token Track during the Open Web Community Hackathon, hosted by Createbase, and co-organized by NEAR, Gitcoin and Dystopia Labs. The Hackathon will run from May 15 - June 6, 2021 and will include bounties throughout, rewarding: Ideation; Presentations; and Video Demos. There will also be a final bounty for selected finished projects submitted on GitHub. Funding is needed prior to the Hackathon for the Social Tokens DAO in order for the DAO to remunerate the participants throughout the Hackathon’s Social Token Track. DETAILS + TIMELINE
Seed Club will plan and implement the Social Token Track during the Open Web Community Hackathon, running from May 15 - June 6, 2021. This will include the management, evaluation and disbursement of bounty awards throughout the Hackathon, earned by participants throughout for Ideation; Presentations; and Video Demos, and the final awards of bounties to select participants, selected based on criteria.
- Up to 3 awards will be available, based on the following themes:
- Viral Onboarding Flow
- e.g. bonuses, airdrops
- Playful Growth Strategies
- e.g. stake + earn mechanisms, curation games
- Accessible/Educational UX
- e.g. easy purchase of social tokens via landing page
- Viral Onboarding Flow
- Criteria
- Adherence to at least one of the above themes.
- Encourages, explores and builds on new use cases within the NEAR ecosystem.
- Top of funnel experience encourages engagement and retainment.
- Growth strategies use games, viral experiences/memes and/or social activity.
- Fluid compatibility with other social token legos, Discord bots, wallets, and other protocols and API’s.
- Interfaces are easy to use and thoughtfully guide and educate non-crypto natives.
- Token earning and purchase mechanisms are clear and accessible.
- Additional considerations will be made for participants who collaborate with other tracks (e.g. NFT’s, DAO’s, etc.).
The evaluation, selection and awarding of final bounties will be conducted by the DAO members. The bounties will also be used throughout the Hackathon to sustain engagement and retention, and to promote the functionalities and benefits within the NEAR ecosystem. The timeline will mirror the Hackathon timeline, with supplementary events throughout to support the Social Token Track participants. Events will be posted on the Createbase Hackathon Calendar.
POTENTIAL ROI / PROJECT BENEFITS
Following on the success of the Seed Club Creator x Crypto Summit, many developers and community leaders are eager to engage, and are looking for opportunities to connect and start building together. The Hackathon will provide concrete ways for these newly joined members to participate, while providing the education and focus of the surrounding education and community activities.
- 100+ Expected registrants for Social Token Track
- Provide advice and mentorship to participants over the duration of the challenge.
- The educational programming and surrounding events will engage additional participants in the NEAR ecosystem, and educate participants on the benefits of developing with NEAR.
- Bounty rewards will encourage sustained participation overall, and participation in the Social Token Track specifically.
- Development of new proofs of concept that combine social token usage with NFT’s and/or DAO’s.

- 100 NEAR needed for each participant.
- Future requests can be submitted throughout the Hackathon based on registration numbers.
