Artist Statement (pt-br):
Cada trabalho é fruto de um processo laboratorial constante de estudos autônomos informais e práticas experimentais unindo linguagens e métodos diferentes, deixando espaço aberto aos improvisos, bricolagens, derivas e cut-ups . Para isso, pesquiso técnicas de síntese sonora, manipulção de efeitos visuais e linguagens de programação criativa, além de explorar formas que propiciam esse encontro multidimensional, como performance, vídeo arte e livecoding.
Busco inspiração em manifestações afrodiaspóricas e africanas, no intento de absorver estéticas e saberes ancestrais, decoloniais e afrofuturistas. Nesta gama de elementos, encontram-se: a espontaneidade do Jazz; a cosmovisão da capoeira; a sankofa eletroacústica do Dub, do Hip-Hop e da eletrônica preta e o experimentalismo subestimado do que se classifica como MPB. Tomar tais práticas e visões como norte é, para mim, mergulhar em conhecimentos coletivos que se refletem no âmbito individual e estimulam processos criativos que se integram à vida pessoal e, através das interações entre microcosmos sociais, reconstróem a coletividade.
Pensando na democratização dos meios criativos, busco também utilizar softwares de código aberto e gratuitos sempre que possível, algo que, ao meu ver, permite um melhor contato com o funcionamento das ferramentas utilizadas e personalizações mais profundas do fluxo de trabalho, favorecendo a criatividade. Como subproduto deste ato, tem-se a divulgação do que pode ser realizado com tecnologias livres, incentivando revisões sobre como operam as indústrias criativas.
Sinopse do projeto (pt-br):
O objetivo é criar obras artísticas híbridas, cuja narrativa resulta da interação entre linguagens distintas. Sendo assim, o processo se dará ao longo do estudo prático de ferramentas como a plataforma de livecoding Gibber, para a programação de visuais reativos a áudio; o sintetizador virtual VCV Rack, que permite o desenho de uma ampla variedade de timbres e conexões entre parâmetros de síntese sonora e Ossia Score, software de sequenciamento multimídia que será utilizado para combinar e remixar material das diferentes fontes exploradas. A captação de instrumentos como baixo e sintetizadores analógicos também será feita, a fim de ampliar o espectro de texturas sônicas a disposição.
A bolsa possibilitará maior foco e dedicação à produção e ao desenvolvimento artístico e contribuirá com a aquisição de uma placa de vídeo externa para captura de tela em alta qualidade das sessões de livecoding, uma controladora musical com funções MIDI e CV para a manipulação de sintetizadores físicos e virtuais e com o agendamento de sessões de produção musical em estúdio profissional quando conveniente.

Each work comes from a constant laboratory process of informal and autonomous studies and experimental practices uniting different languages and methods; leaving the space open for improvisations, bricolages, dérives and cut-ups. In order to do that, I research sound synthesis techniques, visual effects manipulation and creative programming langues, in addition to the exploration of forms which provide this multidimensional encounter, like performance, video art and livecoding.
I look for inspiration in African and Afro diasporic manifestations, intending to absorb ancestral, decolonial and afrofuturist aesthetics and wisdom. Among these elements are: the spontaneity of Jazz; the capoeira cosmovision; the electroacoustic sankofa found in Dub, Hip-Hop and black electronic music and the underestimated experimentalism coming from what is classified as MPB (Brazilian Popular Music). Taking such practices and visions as guidance means, to me, to dive into collective knowledges which reflect themselves on the individual scope and stimulate creative processes that become integrated to the personal life and, through the interactions between social microcosms, reconstruct the collectivity.
Thinking on the democratization of creative resources, I also seek to use free and open source softwares whenever it’s possible, which to my mind allows for a better contact with the functioning of the selected tools and deeper customization of the workflow, fuelling creativity. As a byproduct of this, there’s the diffusion of what can be accomplished with free technologies, encouraging revisions about how creative industries operate.
Project synopsis (eng):
The aim is to create hybrid artworks, whose narrative results from the interaction between distinct languages. Therefore, the processse will occur thourghout the study of tools like the livecoding platform Gibber, for coding audio reactive visuals; the virtual synthesizer VCV Rack, which allows the design of a large variety of timbres and Ossia Score, a multimedia sequencing software that will be utilized to combine and remix material from the different sources explored. The recording of instruments like bass and analog synthesizers will also be made, in order to increase the spectrum of sonic textures available.
The grant will enable a higher focus and dedication to the artistic production and development and will contribute to the acquisition of an external video card for high quality screen capture of the livecoding sessions, a musical controller with MIDI and CV functionalities for the manipulation of hardware and software synthesizers and to the booking of musical production sessions at a professional studio when appropriate.
