[Approved] 35m long wall mural & NFTs (Arroz Criativo & Graffiti DAO collaboration)

We are inviting an established British graffiti artist to come to the studios in Lisbon to paint the outside wall of our compound.

The artist’s name is Kid Acne, first name Ed. Ed is a UK-based artist, illustrator, print-maker and hip-hop artist that’s been painting large scale murals for over 20 years including hosting his own graffiti festival in the north of England called feature walls, links below:

The wall he’s going to paint is a 35m long wall which faces onto a 5 + 2 lane highway which is the main road in/out of central Lisbon on the east coast. Our plan is to extend the visual identity of the studios onto the outward facing wall with a text based mural.

Ed (Kid Acne) is also a print maker and musician, he’s aware of the NFTs and crypto arts and as a part of the residency he will create NFTs of his prints and the graffiti piece on Mintbase platform through our own and the Graffiti DAO’s store.

Timeline

• August: Proposal submission & review
• Last week in august: plan of mural & residency with small team, activate press links
• September week 1: residency start, full design, materials acquisition
• September week 2: painting of mural, opening and NFT creation

• Residency plan & timeline with aims and targets
• Residency implementation & mural painting
• Onboarding onto Mintbase & store creation
• Minting of graffiti piece
• Minting of selected prints
• Posting of blog article
• Posting images to social media
• Unveiling event physically at Arroz Estudios & in the metaverse in Cryptovoxels
• Workshop for 20 - 30 people

• Onboarding of wider network in the UK to mintbase store
• T-shirt design [to be minted as NFT]
• Other merch to be sold physically here in Arroz & as NFTs

Arroz Criativo August proposal

We are asking for 250 NEAR$ tokens for

• Flight & Accommodation
• Residency planning time
• Time for onboarding onto the NEAR ecosystem
• Planning the residency & learning about NFTs

We’ve been working on this in the background and feel now’s a good time to give an update…

• The residency has been pushed back due to availability from the artist, we have just booked the flights from 4th - 18th of October
• We had a kick-off meeting with Ed and Mette on Sept 7th
• Ed is learning about the NEAR ecosystem and NFTs and going to make a post here when he’s ready
• He’s started work on the overall project plan, with Arroz taking the role of organising the logistics
• Ed has begun ideating with the mural text with our community and we’ve already had a first round ideas (at the bottom of this comment)
• Ed reached out to spray can supplier Montana Cans and they’ve decided to sponsor some paint to the project in return for some NEAR NFTs

• Accomodation we’ve booked, an air bnb between the city and the venue
• The budget for this proposal was originally thought to be covered by 3 or 4 proposals but given the recent increase in the value of NEAR it’s hoped we are able to cover it just with this one. Therefore I’m going to ‘discontinue’ the proposal sent to the Graffiti DAO.
