Translating near.org into Turkish Language in an authentic way.
Hello NEAR family!
I am originally Turkish and I live in Istanbul. I graduated from the English Linguistics Department also two years in Computer Science. I have taught English for 13 years at some colleges.
I am an enthusiast of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and an active dApp user. I follow Near Protocol and the Ecosystem closely for the last 2 Months
I helped @Kriptoraptor to translate wallet.near.org into the Turkish language. Btw it is live on the mainnet now. I would like to commit to translating the near.org site as well. I am waiting for your opinions on this subject.
PS: According to some research, Turkish Crypto users are in the top 10. Many Turkish people are not so good at English. That will help us reach new Turkish crypto communities, making it easier for them to get accurate information that Near Protocol is a user-friendly Decentralized Blockchain Protocol.

-I definitely think we need to get near.org translated in an professional, authentic and Turkish friendly way instead of machinized responses
we must be in touch with different people during the whole process (i.e. community leaders, developers, degens in order to make sure keeping the original message but also conveying the best matched message in Turkish in an authentic way)
You already know that Translation is also my profession
I think this is possible but let me tell you this ain’t an easy task but needs to be done ASAP.
I can supervise you and get the content double checked together during the whole process.
We will surely get help from all of the community members especially from the developers as well as Experienced crypto degens

I totally agree with you, especially since we get along well with you because you are open to communication and sharing.
Unfortunately, Turkish people don’t speak English, and wallet.near.org has been a great service for them. That’s why I felt the need to make such an offer. Everyone in Turkey should understand NEAR very well.
Yes, as I mentioned above, it should definitely be translated into Turkish. As you know, it is a very difficult process because the blockchain contains technical and some new expressions, so it requires further research, technical analysis, and revision. I would be very happy if you support us in this translation process as a supervisor, who knows about NEAR and Turkish-English very well.
I need to see the json file to give you the time and price. Then the price will be calculated according to the number of words, technical analysis and revision.

yeah I agree. It’s known and proven by many research that 80-90% of average Turkish person cannot understand even an English movie or a basic article. I believe we can start Turkish discussions on the governance forum in the future.
yes I think so. It’s not a one person job. You need to have cypto experience be highly familiar with technical/blockchain/crypto wallet/de-fi/dApp terms.
I think this will be the second* full tranaslation after the Vietnamese. @Riley Can you give us some idea if you had been involved in making of Vietnamese full version of near.org?

We could in fact use Crowdin to coordinate and translate in various languages.
The pricing is based on words and users.
Would you know who could give the files and text to translate in order to get this going?
We could designate users from the community to be translators and set up remuneration for translation and proof-read.
I wouldn’t at the early stage open it for everyone as it would create a chaos.
But thats just an idea…
Also we should create some “translation group” to coordinate the efforts worldwide.

Hey, so word on the grapevine is that we have something in place to allow for crowdsourced translations. Just getting the details now, will get back to you ASAP.
we don’t have plans for that for now. and I don’t think it’s necessary since most stuff is technical and cannot be translated into Turkish since they are authentic tecnical terms which Turkish devs also use.
instead have bigger plans for Edu Turkey. will discuss that on community call.

-merging partial translations,
-making final checks and have the last word on alternative suggestions,

Summary: If I have to go all over it again and check every single detail multiple times even punctuation (in this case we must do that! we can’t publish it without doing so. Millions of people will be visiting near.org)
Opening this task for everyone is not recommended (but for Near Community members who are experienced, willing to keep in touch during the whole proccess)
Imo this will only cost extra time & money.
If you take a look at how ethereum.org handles it, you should have a clearer picture of how Crowdin works (though, AFAIK, we won’t be using Crowdin). Contributors receive an NFT rather than a crypto payment.
There are no deadlines, it’s on a rolling basis where contributors are encouraged to translate due to their love of the ecosystem and what ethereum.org stands for rather than monetary gain (they could simply pay a translation service for the latter).
As for final checks, a professional translating company does perform checks, and they’d likely have to do so at NEAR as well.
The translator should have a very good knowledge of NEAR.
The translator needs to understand and know how much the translation is based on reality and what kind of conceptual framework the symbols in NEAR are expressed in.
The more translator know about the NEAR Ecosystem, the better s/he can sense the nuances in translation.
But because Crowdin is more like a philosophy school than poetry, everyone writes down every phrase. It is difficult to control and the translations are meaningless.
The difference between Crowdin and the Team:
Crowdin:
1. Everyone is in a race to earn more money, so phonetic and one-to-one translations are made quickly and are full of mistakes.
2. It is work-for-money oriented.
Team
1. These include Metered, Metrics, Rhymed and Commented translations. This requires meticulous work and an emotional understanding of both languages and the subject of the work to be done.
This is a great initiative, because everyone needs to understand what near is about and bringing it down to our local dielet will do great.# Near community up we go.
