Swine Guild July 2021 Update

Ahhh skeet skeet!!! Wondering what Swine Guild has been up to? Here’s a quick overview of what we did during the month of July:

Phase 1 of Consulting Scale-Up Plan - We consulted with the NEAR Team and began making memes through gaining access to the Trello where they share their important information and updates.

Marketing Our Guild & Services - We published our first update blog on Medium & we did an interview with 4NTS, in which shared more about our experience starting out as a guild and how we manage our responsibilities to contribute, grow the ecosystem, and still have fun.

Created an Official Content Schedule - To keep our content flow consistent and to ensure we reach the weekly meme output goals we laid out in our Road Map. This includes making and sharing 10-15 memes a week, in addition to taking requests. We share our memes primarily on our Twitter and in our Discord channel, as well as Reddit and Telegram.

Featured 3 guest Meme Smiths - We are working on slowly expanding and have 3 meme smiths who volunteered to contribute to our meme output this month.

July Meme Contest - We held our second Monthly Meme Contest, the theme was “NFTs on NEAR”. We had 30 participants submit a meme and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were chosen and rewarded through the Sandbox DAO.

Upcoming plans for Swine Guild:

Expanding to Other Languages - Two individuals have reached out expressing that they are willing to make/translate memes into Russian and Nigerian Pigden English. We began sharing these memes on our Twitter at the end of the month.

Updating the Meme-folio - We will be updating our meme-folio to more accurately depict the range of content we make.

Phase 2 of Consulting Scale-Up Plan - We will be consulting with the other NEAR Guilds to make memes for their events, promotions, and updates. We want to position our guild at the intersection of the many facets of the NEARverse to be able to serve both individuals and the masses.

We have had so much fun making memes and enriching the internet culture of NEAR Protocol. Thanks for coming to our TED Talk. Stay BOARish on NEAR!!!

Thank you for sharing this detailed proposal with a roadmap! I’m wondering about how the memes of NEAR will evolve and reflect many different goals or intentions. Do you know any universal memes that inspire Swine Guild?

What is your “pigs flying” moment?

Ahoy! Swine Guild memeczar Sue here. Our current methodology for meme creation begins with information gathering. We comb through twitter, the NEAR social media marketing Trello, and a diversity of telegram channels to determine the most important marketing goals for a given week. We then use this information as the foundation for our content. As we progress, we are bringing in more voices through our scale up. This next month, as part of our final phase of scale-ups, we will be reaching out to Guilds, NEAR core team, and projects building on NEAR to ask for personalized meme orders. It should be noted here that any project is free to order memes with us at any point in time, whether or not we ask for them.

Our content strategy prioritizes flexibility and versatility, and for this reason we have not adopted any particular “universal” meme beyond the basic pig/swine branding. We draw a lot of inspiration from pigs, the original meme lords.

We appreciate a number of hoggish qualities displayed by the domestic pig, Sus scrofa domesticus. First of all, they roll in feces. Second, they are unapologetic in their self-realization. Unencumbered by the chains of sentience, they run, play, oink, and root their way through an existence of unbothered certitude. No thoughts, just vibes. Shakespeare warns of the pitfalls of human introspection in Hamlet:

Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action.

Swine Guild will never lose the name of action. We will continue to make memes true to our anarchoprimitivist/NEAR-pilled aesthetic in a state of porcine existential bliss.
