I am seeking NEAR dev partners to code the transition of an innovative Web 2.0 project that seeks to fix the problems of the web that are not addressed by Web3 (including misinformation, scams, and lack of avenues to build collective knowledge and intelligence) to the NEAR protocol. As soon as we get the NEAR dev team together, I will be submitting what I think is a compelling proposal to the NEAR foundation to build this system on NEAR and to compensate devs.
The premise is that we cannot solve these problems with a flat, static web where everyone is a publisher and there is no accountability. We have built a meta layer above the web (i.e., a browser overlay) that contains information and interactions associated with content snippets on the web (e.g., a sentence or a segment of a video). Developers can build on top of platform to create new interactions with content that are not possible with today’s web.
I am writing a book about this now called “The Metaweb: The Next Level of the Web” for renowned publisher Taylor & Francis.
We have built the browser overlay as SDK that can be loaded on a web page that gives people a presence on web pages so they can meet, connect, and coordinate with like-minded people. You can test out the SDK at our site https://presencebrowser.com. Just click the bouncing icon on the lower right and register. (Note that phone number requires the plus sign plus the country code and the full number without formatting - registering using Google auth is easier.)
It is also a browser extension and a bookmarklet, with a proxy server on the way as well so that loading an extension is not necessary. Unique capabilities for developers that this platform will provide are:
- Build smart tags that can be attached to content snippets anywhere on the web
- Build overlay applications that are available on every page.
We are now ready to bring the project to the blockchain, and it seems that the NEAR Ecosystem given its commitment to an Open Web is a great fit. I am looking for a lead dev and a small team of devs to take this from being a cool Web 2.0 project to the blockchain and to develop a strong open source community (probably GPL).
