BTC Pizza Day Event Report
The BTC Pizza Day event, organized by NEAR Antigua, took place on May 22, 2024, at the Green Apple Cafe in Antigua. With funding of 1300 USD from the Marketing DAO and 625 USD from the Pizza DAO, the event successfully celebrated BTC Pizza Day, drawing between 80 to 120 attendees from 124 RSVPs. The primary goal was to engage participants with the NEAR Protocol blockchain through various activities, with a highlight being “The Box,” where attendees invited friends and unlocked mystery prizes, including cryptocurrency tokens, NFTs, and BTC Pizza Day souvenirs, including Pizza DAO Noggles and 5 branded T-shirts.
Refreshments were an essential part of the event, featuring a variety of pizzas and drinks served throughout the evening. With a pizza budget of $625.00 USD and a refreshments budget of $261.11 USD, attendees enjoyed a constant supply of food and beverages. The event kicked off at approximately 5 PM, with multiple pizza orders every hour until 10 PM, culminating in the distribution of prizes from “The Box” activity, which added an element of excitement and engagement.

- “The Box” Activity:
- Why It Was a Highlight: Despite the pizzas, most people lingered for the giveaway, which made it the highlight. “The Box” engaged attendees through an interactive and rewarding experience, increasing overall excitement and participation.
- Social Media Engagement:
- Outcome: We documented our journey to and after the Near Antigua BTC Pizza Party on our socials: X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook. We also had an interactive component where the community could take pictures on our Minsta.
- Feedback: While the engagement was significant, the Minsta platform wasn’t utilized to its full extent due to mobile data restrictions, impacting the upload of images.
Areas for Improvement
- Increase Participation in Blockchain Activities:
- Challenge: Participation was approximately 25% ± 5%, falling short of the 50% mark due to technological challenges within the community and attendees’ eagerness for delicious pizza.
- Solution: Implement more engaging and accessible activities to reach the target and address technological barriers.
- UI and Connectivity:
- Challenge: The Minsta platform wasn’t utilized to its full extent due to mobile data restrictions, impacting the upload of images.
- Solution: Ensure better connectivity and upload capabilities for future events.

- Challenge: While social media engagement was high, broader outreach could increase participation.
- Solution: Expand promotional efforts through partnerships and additional marketing channels.
Future Directions
The BTC Pizza Day event was a significant success, promoting cryptocurrency awareness and fostering community engagement; as seen on Minsta and our gallery. It has set a strong foundation for future celebrations and community events centered around cryptocurrency education and interaction. The positive feedback and high attendance highlighted the event’s effectiveness. Future events could benefit from even broader outreach efforts, addressing UI issues, and incorporating additional interactive activities to maintain and increase engagement levels.
