TYGS Battle Series 2024
TYGS x RTB Fest
Introduction
Think You Got Skillz (TYGS) was founded in 2009 to serve as a platform for up-and-coming Hip Hop artists in Malaysia. Since then we have hosted over 50 battles covering Rap, Dance, Beatbox, DJ and Producer elements. In 2013, due to the success of TYGS, 8TV in Malaysia commissioned us to put together "WORD” - a TV mini-series showcasing Rap Battles between 8 of Malaysia’s top rappers. Once the pandemic arrived we moved our competitions Online and in 2021 we launched our first funded initiatives on NEAR and partnered with DAOrecords and Mintbase. We even launched a test Token and distributed it to winners and supporters! Now we are back in 2024 with something amazing to propose!

What is the length of Commitment to Delivering Your Project? Will your team be working on this project full-time?
Vandal will do all the planning and coordination in advance of the Festival dates. The team will be engaged for the 2 days of the event.
Will your team be fully remunerated from this budget?
Most of the team will be remunerated in full from this budget for the tasks outlined. Other remuneration for aspects of the event will be remunerated by the festival organizers, like the production of the TYGS Battles, payment to judges, host, DJ and some in-kind prizes for winners.
Project/DAO longevity
Does your project/DAO require one-time or continuous funding?
For this project we are requesting one-time funding, though we may look to request funding again in the future.
Will your DAO/Project devise a way of sustaining itself after this round of funding?
Ideally, our future IRL events can become sustainable through sponsorship & ticket sales.
What are the possible roadblocks to the success of your project/DAO?
The learning curve to convert a passive user to a Web3 enthusiast is quite high when dealing with Artists. We don’t feel that it will majorly impact our success, but it will challenge our user-retention so we’ll have to be more creative and simplify things as much as possible.
