Proposal: Next Chapter for NEAR PH Geographic Guild (with a twist)

							NEAR PH Proposal

Suffering from learned helplessness, Dante cannot help but worry about how to support his mother’s medication. He has just been laid off from his job as a call center agent in Manila. Scrolling through his social media feed, he notices that one of his friends, Maizy, is excited about her newfound online gig that pays more than her day job. Curious, Dante asks Maizy about it. She explains to him.

“Describing images and get paid in crypto? Isn’t that a scam?” Dante asks himself. He starts looking up NEAR Protocol Philippines on Youtube. He watches several videos on NEAR, gets directed to near.org, checks the whitepaper, and the rest is history for Dante. He now earns from NEARCrowd as well. Two weeks later, he finds out that his artist cousin, JR, gets contacted by NEAR PH. JR joins Paras and starts minting his card.

JR and Dante start attending NEAR PH’s weekly meetings. They find out that NEAR PH also has tutorials on how to learn from NEAR Academy. They tell their recently-graduated computer science major neighbor, Aida, to enroll. Now the three of them, Dante, JR, and Aida, are part of the growing community of NEAR PH.

This is the impact NEAR PH is envisioning for the Philippines: holding the hands of creative and eager-to-learn Filipinos towards their journey with NEAR Protocol. This is done through educational and conceptual videos, regular community meetings, and daily outreach.

While the story above is fictional, it represents the collective experiences of the NEAR PH community. Here is an excerpt from three of the community members:

“For the first time, I paid the bills for our electricity this month.” -KD

‘Before NEARCrowd, my income was limited; but with this opportunity, I have been able to pay for gas and groceries for two months now. It’s such a big financial help.’ -DD

‘Who wouldn’t be inspired from knowing you can earn from the convenience of your home, not to mention the amount of income you can have?’ -CL

Moreover, 3 artists (and counting) have been onboarded on Paras.
