Inappropriate content in LGBTQIA+ NEAR channels

Hey!

Not sure if this is the right place to question and ask this, but I am feeling uncomfortable with the NEAR channels for the LGBTQIA+ community.

It was suggested by @Dacha that NEAR already had a channel for gathering the community in Telegram, but the content there – sorry for the expression – looks like a bad porn magazine. The same situation applies to the Twitter account. The Telegram is not even open for interactions.

Are these truly NEAR official channels? Why are the posts only in Russian?

I will not share the screenshots that I took to not offend people.

I’ve just opened my DAO to gather and create a welcoming environment for the LGBTQIA+ community [check Introducing Tibira DAO post], but considering the channels above, I am starting to think that here is not the place for it.

Reduce LGBTQIA+ community to soft porn images is extremely offensive and deviates the main goal of working with the community in the crypto environment.

I am really ashamed about this situation. Not sure who should address this if @Grace, @mecsbecs, @jlwaugh or @David_NEAR, but it would be good to have an official position as soon as possible.

Tks!

If aesthetic and beautiful photos are so challenging for you, then I can only say one thing - I’m sorry for you! And I will say that you personally have nothing to do with the LGBTQ community, if you do not have a drop of tolerance and you behave so aggressively!

Probably you have read many porn magazines, since you give such an assessment)))

Good morning. I think you need contact directly with the channel owner. Thank You

I wrote you about other group. Probably, two different groups.

Thank You

Hey!

It is not only erotic photos (which, by the record, I dont have anything against it – when in appropriate channels), but even likes in Twitter of pornographic tweets – which are reposted automatically in the followers timeline.

I am not being aggressive. It is important to understand how the LGBTQIA+ community are discredited in heteronormative environments. Soft porn or erotic images only reinforce the idea of a promiscuous and untrustful community.

I believe here is not the environment to disclose this kind of content and, if keeping in doing that, it will only stigmitize even more an under-represented community.

This type of content in such environments goes against the fight of several LGBTQIA+ activists that are fighting hard to reduce the prejudice against them in heteronormative spaces (eg tech and crypto environments).

Could you show where exactly the “welcoming environment” has been created by you? apart from the DAO, I did not find absolutely anything, and it was created quite a long time ago!

Not that my DAO is in discussion here, but you can find the proposals for development in the forum.

I have been in the LGBTQ community since 17 years old, I live in Russia, and it is discredited by people like you who, seeing a beautiful male ass in the photo, start yelling that this is disgusting and this is porn !!! I know a lot of people who think completely differently than you, and they are absolute representatives of hetero! I think you have a wrong understanding of the very specifics of the LGBTQ movement … hiding behind your moral and medieval values, you will not achieve anything, because you do not have such a goal, a priori!

And it’s all? 0_0 I think that besides the proposals there should be something else, at least Picasso’s paintings in social networks!

I think the arguments are already there and this discussion is getting anywhere. I will wait for the feedback from NF.

It is these likes that generate positive emotions on the members of the LGBTQ community, as trust grows! Do you see how many likes are under any porn video or photo on Twitter? Alas, this is a trend, and a trend not only in the LGBTQ community …

At this point, I decided to stop a little too! And please tell me who defines what is “offensive”? Who determines which community is right and which is not? What is the main goal of your community? You ask why “yours”, but you are solely responsible for the whole community here, and I suppose you have the right to do so, because it is entirely yours and you define that WHITE and BLACK! I judge by your quote!

@carrapatoso Thanks for sharing your concerns in such a thoughtful and respectful way. Those are definitely not official channels. I’m extremely disappointed by the actions of @NearCommunity, and I agree their posts are offensive and counterproductive.

This unsettling situation represents why the NEAR community needs an organization like Tibira.

Rest assured that we are doing our best to resolve this problem, and I believe your DAO can help. Please accept my apologies for the disorganized / delayed response to your proposals.

The same as @jlwaugh said. Thanks @carrapatoso for your seriousness and respect in dealing with this situation.

That social media are not NEAR official channels, we will try our best to fix this situation as soon as possible.

Kindly, please specify where exactly did you find the insults and counterproductiveness? Do you support homophobia?

What exactly does this organization do? is it an internal police body?

Probably, it’s kind of Google translation issues (Ru->En->Ru). Not sure that “near community” wanted insult somebody.

Yes, sorry for delay. I’m only one of six councils in Marketing DAO. 3 of them are NF people as you know . I review all proposals as soon as they published here. I definitely understand @carrapatoso .

Hey @Dacha. Just to clarify, I am not angry for the delay in my proposals as @jlwaugh clarified the motives in an email thread. I am still up with the complain as I believe this content goes against the community itself. Tks!

In order to start promoting the LGBTQ community with the NEAR protocol, do you need DAO marketing approval, money to open this DAO? But what can you personally offer to the community other than asking for money without doing absolutely nothing for the community as a whole? Why was your DAO paid for by the marketing NF and not by you at your own expense? You say that you care about the protocol near !!! Please answer at least one of the direct questions posed both in this thread and in others !!! thanks!
