you must active enough in order to receive the badge

you can unlock them by being active and using all functions of the froum: i.e. spend time in here, contribute/share, comment, like, invite

Yes, Discourse- the platform that the forum is hosted on, allows us to create custom badges too, that gets issued when a user meets a certain criteria: What are Badges? - faq - Discourse Meta
But it’s upto @David_NEAR and team to see what badges and gamification techniques makes most sense. It’s a fine line between engagement triggers and too many notifications.
