Grateful for one week's immersion as Near community moderator

Greetings of the day,

I have been interacting with multiple friends, family, and tech communities around crypto and blockchain. I have been helping them primarily by giving them an understanding of what blockchain and crypto are exactly about. And what type of potential blockchain technology holds.

I have a habit of reading about blockchain technology updates. During one of such readings, I came across the NEAR blockchain. When I went through the documentation around the technology, sharding, scalability, etc., I was totally amazed by the potential it holds. This was the time when I approached being a community moderator. And it has been an awesome experience in terms of understanding the NEAR ecosystem and blockchain technology.

It’s been more than a week to been a part of such a grateful community. I would love to thank all the members for providing me with such a homely work atmosphere. Every single moderator is of helpful nature. My journey so far being a community moderator remained very interesting & knowledgeable. I daily get a chance to help other community members on various subjects on different platforms like telegram, discord, etc. I believe that this knowledge will definitely help me in building a strong career in blockchain.

It was my first experience being an official community moderator. I love talking to people and discussing various topics with them. It feels good that I am contributing my part to building and growing the NEAR community on a world level.

My daily routine has been to go through various communications on different channels and try to understand the main pain points the community is facing. Till now, I have realized that the community is facing issues with regard to wallets, wallet recovery, staking, etc. I know that when the hard-earned money is a matter of query, it automatically becomes the topmost priority of a person. And if a community member is there to handhold the person and help him understand the gap, it definitely rewards the complete community in terms of the trust.

Another important concern of people is learning. People want to understand more about blockchain and crypto but they are not able to find the right atmosphere around it. NEAR as a community has tried to start multiple certification courses which is definitely helping everyone. The NEAR community has tried to improve the documentation a lot. At the same time, there are still multiple queries from people who want to understand NEAR and blockchain but find it hard to onboard themselves.

I would suggest setting up completely different documentation and certification track for the onboarding of the community and developers. If we say that NEAR is the next Google or Microsoft, then the community will definitely expect the documentation and other resources to be of the same or better quality than these corporations. We should conduct an independent audit to get our onboarding part up to the same level as these big corporations.

I would love to lead this effort of setting up the onboarding track. If set properly, it will make sure that new members are able to integrate with the ecosystem in a very smoother way. It can have an exponential impact on the complete ecosystem. Another initiative I want to take is into deeper communities in addition to broader communities. By deeper communities, I mean to create niche communities that share the interest areas. It is something similar to Near Guilds but on the Near Official Discord channel and open to the community.

Thanks again for giving me this opportunity to understand the NEAR community.
