[Event Report] KAPiTAL NEAR NFT Meetup Berlin May

We are happy to post our report for the May NEAR NFT Stammtisch.

Aim
Our aim for the Stammtisch is to both attract more guests and widen our NFT NEAR community, either present at the space or online. We also want to have artists presenting their work with NFTs and inspire other artists not yet familiar with the format to see the opportunities working with NFTs. We want to create a community around NEAR and NFTs and that way also be a part of and influence the direction and shape the NFT scene in Berlin.

The NFT Stammtisch is based on our art project where we invite house artists to create NFTs with NEAR and sell them in our Mintbase gallery.

[Event Report] KAPiTAL NEAR NFT Meetup Berlin May

KAPiTAL Guild hosted our May KAPiTAL NFT Stammtisch meetup on Thursday the 5th of May in our event space in Berlin. We invited artists from our network (over 400), our meetup group and our general followers on social media. We also ask the artists to share the event and invite their community to get a bigger reach. The event is advertised on Meetup, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, newsletter and our website.

The events start out with the three artists presenting their work and how/why they work with NFTs. After it is possible to stay and talk to the presenting artists and to meet other guests.

The May Stammtisch was focused on having more people attending and getting NEAR wallets handed out. We had beforehand created paper wallets that we could give out to people. There was also a POAP so we could see who checked in.

How it went
We had 15 attendees in the space and around 50 people following our Instagram livestream. This is significantly smaller than the last two Stammtisches but we unfortunately had conflicting event at the same time in Berlin which made it harder to have people come. We still have a strong connection to the Berlin NFT art scene however and still have a lot of interest around the event.

Our reach on social media was in the lower end but the event is at this stage also working as a word of mouth and since we are now connected to the NFT scene they also spread the word through their channels.

Even though we had a lover attendance, it was a very successful and inspiring evening with many new interesting connections. The quality of the talks is high and we are very happy with the networks we are able to tap into to book artists.

Our improvement for next Stammtisch is to apply for funding to create wallets and make the handout smoother. We will again for the May Stammtisch invite artists to talk about their art but this time maybe lower the number to one or two to have more time to talk afterwards and meet the presenting artist.

Finally, we are still looking to attend more NFT events around Berlin among them the NFTBerlin Conference 25-25th of May. We have also started to cohost a Meetup Sundays which brings in a very interesting crowd of artists. We were also invited to present the project at KulturKonferenz Neukölln on the 18th of May where we made a Pecha Kucha presentation to a group of cultural players and stakeholders including the Mayor the Mayor of Neukölln. We are looking into building the project with more partners both locally in Berlin and globally so tapping into these conferences will help us expand both the reach and the aim of the project.

Presenting artists
Stacie Ant’s character-driven work operates as a critique and rejection of the male gaze, enhanced by a modern culture of digital immersion. She harnesses the very digital tools offered in a technologically-dependent world as a means of empowering female identity and sexuality. Often humorous, Ant’s work offers a way of looking at a fast-paced digital realm through a lens of irony and satire.
