[Event Report] KAPiTAL NEAR NFT Meetup Berlin February

Report February KAPiTAL NEAR NFT Stammtisch

We are happy to post our report for the February NEAR NFT Stammtisch.

Aim
Our aim at this month’s Stammtisch was to both attract more guests and widen our NFT NEAR community, either present at the space or online. We also wanted to have artists presenting their work with NFTs and inspire other artists not yet familiar with the format to see the opportunities working with NFTs.

Description
KAPiTAL Guild hosted our February KAPiTAL NFT Stammtisch meetup on Wednesday the 23rd of February in our event space in Berlin. Again, we invited artists from our network (over 400), our meetup group and our general followers on social media. We also invited 3 artists to come talk about their work with art NFTs, one from our artist network and two from another NFT meetup.

We are still aiming for a casual conversational forum, but we would like to have it start with artist talks about NFTs as a warm up. The NFT Stammtisch is based on our art project where we invite house artists to create NFTs with NEAR and sell them in our Mintbase gallery. And since the general focus of KAPiTAL is artist talks, it seems both fitting for the project and the space to introduce the Stammtisch with an artist talk.

The February Stammtisch was focused on having more people attending (stronger advertising for online participation) and more discussion on art. We also wanted to have a smoother way of implementing NEAR wallets and onboarding artists on our Mintbase gallery.

How it went
We had 25 attendees in the space, 10 online with Google meet and around 50 people following our Instagram livestream. This is an overwhelming boost from our last meeting where we only had 4 people attending all over. Our reach on social media was slightly lower but our efforts in marketing the event as an online event as well as an “in person” event was successful plus we have been spending time visiting other NFT groups in Berlin soliciting them to join the Stammtisch and spread the word through their channels.

The introduction with the 3 artist talks (Blue Moon, Paul Thomas and Trev El. Viz) worked perfectly. It was an inspiring opener to the evening hearing artists speak about their different levels of experience working with NFTs. Some had been in the game for a while and others were just starting up. So, they were able to provide different levels of experience and motivations. The biggest learning lesson from the talks was the sense of community. That the artists experience in this sphere of work, support (technical and artistic) and a feeling of belonging to something bigger. And that they can learn from each other, techniques, ways to sell etc.

After the talks the meeting continued in its more casual format where the artists could meet each other and we had the opportunity to talk to everyone who was there.

All in all, it was a very successful and inspiring evening with many new interesting connections. Our improvement for next Stammtisch is to have QR codes ready with NEAR Wallets (a task we didn’t manage to implement) and to gather email addresses of people attending so we can start to build an email list with regulars. We will again for the March Stammtisch invite artists to talk about their art, but we will also invite a technical person who can share knowledge from the technical apect of NFTs. Finally, we are also looking to further partner up with other NFT groups and projects around Berlin to widen the network and to continue the growing attendance at our Stammtisch.
