[Closed] RISING THINKS Initiative: Content and Social Media Proposal

This is a proposal for the Marketing DAO for Rising DAOs quarterly initiative of our RISING THINKS – 2-hour group sessions (recorded on ZOOM) that explore (and convert into content) real-time, interactive exploration of NEAR on-chain best practices between devs, creative technologists, and content creators.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

The RISING THINKS initiative will have:

1.) Two, real-time, led explorations of best practices for collaboration on the NEAR Protocol

2.) A masterclass with our DAO member who is a silicon valley researcher (on best practices in innovation)

3.) Content outcomes in the form of a report and video releases for historical purposes on the NEAR Protocol

4.) A social media campaign to reach the widest scope of participants into the NEAR ecosystem to ensure attendance and insights, while also building a following for the widest sharing of content outcomes as possible.

Key issues RISING THINKS will explore in its first initiative:

  • What can we learn from the leading technologists in the NEAR Ecosystem who are developing technologies with content in mind?
  • How can content creators make use of developers/best practices for NEAR collaboration?
  • What can devs learn from how creatives and creatives developers ideate content?
  • What kinds of content truly excites the leading devs on the protocol?
  • What content works best with what technologies?

Target Partners for the Initiative (we are very open to work with the Marketing DAO re: partners you may recommend as well):

  • Aurora
  • NEAR Hub
  • Amber Metaverse
  • AstroDAO
  • Mintbase
  • Paras
  • ASAC - Anti Social Ape Club

Why are the interactive RISING THINKS crucial for Web3 and NEAR?

Because NEAR is evolving and focusing on Web2 to Web3 and we need to capture HOW we are excelling in our space to communicate and on-board properly. RISING THINKS is a method of exploration through qualitative research questions and ethnographic sensitivity (towards diverse global communities)that informs self-knowledge, disciplined assessment of what is happening in our market, and the tools towards inquiry that can be a “superpower” for the NEAR community and ecosystem.

Why Rising DAO?

Rising DAO is a content innovation DAO that approaches everything it does through the lens of research (ethnographic, creative and market research). We have been on the NEAR Protocol for 5 months, and in a short time have found a home and great community support here on NEAR:

  1. We have held 3 Rising Think Tanks (which we now brand “Rising Thinks”)
  2. Shared with the community 2 reports on our findings of Best Practices
  3. Engaged the community with research in support of our emerging ecosystem governance
  4. Developed our first Content NFT (launching this week) that blends creative collaboration with designers, research and interviews on the social/innovation impact of the blockchain on an African community.

The programs we want to offer are based on our current experience here on NEAR:

1.) Experience leading 3 “Think Tanks” with creatives to explore best practices, and act as a real-time engagement to help bring community members together with the goal of collaboration

2.) Utilizing our team members for a “master class” in research (who have domain expertise in technology market research e.g. Google, Netflix, AirBnB)

3.) Our social media manager (with 25K following on Twitter – for verification: @Grace_undiluted ) will support breaking out of a current silo and bring those creative technologists/content creators together with devs they have yet to meet.

RISING THINKS programs for your consideration

1. RISING THINKS #1 Meeting – Best Practices for Content Creators and Devs to create breakthrough projects and products (2 hours)

  • These conversations are led (by DAO council member Sarah Kornfeld who has led the past think tanks, and has 20+ years in arts, entertainment, and technology innovation marketing) and interactive – they are NOT “brainstorms” for the rules of the road for these workshops are for INSIGHTS which are defined by practical experiences, not theoretical ideas about process
  • We will ask 3 people to act as “experience leads” in the conversation and we will hear their experiences through a “matchmaking” exercise – bringing together those who have never thought of working together to gain insights and potential partners
  • Give an assignment (out of what we have learned) for #2 RISING THINKS

2. Research Master Class with Cate Riegner, Rising DAO member, researcher for Google, 25 year veteran of silicon valley, international research experience with major brands in tech

  • 101 on market research for technology Best Practices and how to implement innovation practices for research that can impact your projects, roadmap and actions

3. RISING THINKS #2 – Best Practices for Content Creators and Devs to create breakthrough projects and products (2 hours)

  • Review assignment from #1 Rising Thinks
  • Bring a new set of insights onto the “stage” and do another “match making” exercise

Hello, @sarahkornfeld could you please split the total budget for each category?

For example

Content → Writing → guide > $400 / KPIs, goals, metrics
Social media → Twitter → $400 / KPIs, goals, metrics/
Etc.

And exclude not supported categories.

Thank you!

Hi @sarahkornfeld
This is definitely a cool initiative and a focus on building up a better understanding of best practices is something very close to my own goals.

Unfortunately, we’re not able to approve event-related proposals at this time.

Unfortunately the Marketing DAO is unable to fund events at this point. I would suggest you reach out to @yadira and the Events team.

Thanks for your proposal Sarah,

It seems like this proposal would fall either under the Education or Events categories, both of which are currently out of scope for Marketing DAO.

The Community Fund is destined to the last mile delivery - active community members and live projects with proven record that are able to deliver campaigns that directly lead to growth. Namely, we would technically be able to fund teams that adopt any findings from your research, were they able to obtain results.

I hope that you find the appropriate funding avenue for this initiative. Thanks for all the work that you do

Thank you all for your kind feedback, and we’ll certainly connect with @yadira about the proposal. As we were working within the new criteria we thought as well that it might be out of scope, though valued your feedback on the idea.

We really do see a need for best practices and leveling-up to make sure research and cross-functional collaboration can be done really well on the protocol. So, keep us in mind if and when you expand the scope, or need our help with anything!

Best to you all,
Sarah and the Rising Crew (@reespect @Blessedchidi @cateriegner)
