Project 5
She Is Near at EthDenver

Title of Session:
SHE IS NEAR Panel: “How We Win: Onboarding Women builders For The NEAR Future”

She Is Near: She Is Near, a pioneering DAO on NEAR funded by the NDC, aims to stand at the forefront of empowering women on NEAR. With a profound commitment to cultivating female talent on-chain, our mission aligns with bolstering the NEAR Protocol while harnessing the power of Near’s Blockchain Operating System and Ecosystem Founders.

Panel Description:
NEAR is building for innovation and change. Yet, the representation of women, both in numbers and professional perspectives, falls short. Why is it crucial to bring more women into the blockchain space? Because women contribute collaborative grit and bring fresh perspectives to teams.

What obstacles hinder women from unleashing their talents in Blockchain? What narratives prevail about women’s value in engineering programs globally? What are some amazing projects women have led? How can we move beyond mere representation to generate genuine excitement about women’s involvement in NEAR?
Join our panelists, Sarah, Kay, Souhila, Maggie from SheFi, for an insightful discussion addressing these pivotal questions. This panel will not only delve into the challenges faced by women developers but also explore societal perceptions affecting their engagement in blockchain technology. Discover actionable steps to cut through the noise and get more women involved in NEAR projects. The session will feature an interactive Q+A, and on the floor, we’ll have a dedicated table to sign women up for the DAO.
SHE IS NEAR Table:
At our table, equipped with a QR code for streamlined onboarding, you can engage in conversations with council members representing Africa, Turkey, Ukraine, and the US. We’ll offer Swag, a digital questionnaire to gather valuable data about women developers, exciting contests, and each night, an opening champagne cocktail party to foster networking and community-building.

Step 3: Audience
Target Audience: This panel will resonate with both women and men at EthDenver. We aim to attract a diverse audience, including:
Tech Leaders
HR Professionals
Students
Developers
Level of Expertise: All levels. Whether you are new to blockchain technology or an experienced developer, this panel is designed to provide valuable insights for everyone.
Expected Number of Participants: We anticipate attracting between 75-250 people to this event. We encourage active participation from the audience during the Q+A session to foster a dynamic and engaging discussion.

Step 4: RESOURCES
Venue/Platform: We will need the use of space for our panel, with a MORNING timeslot at the beginning of the conference to ensure we reach as many people as possible. We ask for the Morning Timeslot to share the same value and stage with the other panels and events.
Equipment and Materials: We will not need a projector, though we would like the use of a live-stream technician if the conference is being live-streamed.

BUDGET:
$500 for Swag (up to 500 units of shirts/buttons/stickers)
Flight:
Sarah:(local)$450
Souhila: (international) $1,200

Hello, here is my REPORT of my work on the She is Near DAO – Council, Partner Lead, Writer. Please let me know if I can answer any questions.

Is it 5 or 15 seconds, to clarify.

Good morning.
For the collaboration package we chose, it is 5 seconds.

Thanks for pointing that out, I’ve corrected it.

Dear @Blessedchidi ! Your proposal was rejected. You can find the reasons here:

Please update your proposal and let me know when I should create a new Poll. Thank you!

Would the onboarding of the 700+ come from the presence within the course or the advertisement? Also, what would the onboarding flow look like for those who join the telegram?

They have some notable sponsors there; if we could find Accenture and other Web2 consulting firms interested in NEAR, that would be of high value.

Is the main hook the training, the amplification, or both?

Thank you @Dacha. We will be updating it in few hours.

Hello, good morning.
Thank you for taking time to read the proposal.

The 700 is the number of women who will be taking the training (excluding the number of men), when we onboard through the advertisements and promo efforts, it will be an added bonus.

For those joining our Telegram, the onboarding flow will focus on seamless integration into our community, ensuring swift access to resources and support (we are currently working on two ideas (welcome to She is Near package and our guardianship/ mentorship program) to guarantee this for not just members onboarded through Shefi program but also our collaboration with Jutsu and Build DAO.

The main hook for the offer is both the training and the amplification but if I’m being honest, the amplification was given more emphasis on the offer proposal we received.
Another core aspect is networking which I believe we need especially our partnership team.

Why was council remuneration raised from $5K to $5.5K?

Would you mind sharing the earlier breakdown please?

Initially, there was an additional renumeration in department for additional jobs done outside the council role but based on feedback from Congress members, that was removed to ensure all funds goes into projects and council renumeration stays independent to avoid confusion and complications. Also, our DAO councils have the least renumeration still.

Also, we were previously using an equal pay pattern for all council but have now changed into a workload based pay system as we think it’s unfair to get equal pay when we aren’t all committing equal time nor completing equal tasks.

Got it. In that case it would be nice to breakdown what tasks / responsibilities each council member does  Most GDAO council members have equal remuneration. Examples: CDAO, MDAO, Globe DAO, etc.

Some light is shed on your reports but would help adding it to the proposal.
