Hello NEAR Community!
We send you all beautiful energy for a lovely winter season wherever you are and whatever it is you are doing. December was a huge month for The Kin DAO thanks to the funding received from Near. We are invigorated, galvanized and really proud of what we were able to accomplish. Here is a snapshot for what we achieved this month.
Team
- The Kin DAO is energized and committed to continuously learning together. Many of us are new to the blockchain and are learning as we go so we can create greater understanding and entry points for our communities. We each do tons of personal research on how to navigate being in a DAO. We are learning to operate and create systems that flow well. This month we got really good at communicating collectively on discord, holding regular meetings to come to decisions, and collectively working out the budget/payments & labor tracking systems.
- We familarized our team with dapps in the Near protocol ecosystem. As we learn, we simultaneously teach the community that we are onboarding.
- We have added two new members to the council who have been working closely with us since Kindness Grocery Cooperative’s founding and have finally decided to be represented on this level: @munchikin.near and @lovekin.near
Social Media
- We started this month with 130 Twitter followers and are ending with 345! This growth has been completely organic from attending/hosting Twitter spaces, Clubhouse talks, creating infographics and sharing our story. We have had suggestions to rapidly grow our following through bounties and large hashtag posts but feel that our values are more aligned with natural and steady growth of community from real engagement and relationship building. We are satisfied with this growth and are looking forward to implementing aligned strategies to grow our community engagement.

Hyphae Virtual NFT Galleries
- This was a huge upload!! The Kin DAO team curated 3 virtual galleries for our Winter Solstice opening! We are in the process adding two more virtual galleries and learning how to build virtual worlds on the Near Protocol platform.
- @BitSavage0202 created the Bath Party gallery on oncyber
- @adrianseneca @godofnfts ,@peacekin and @lovekin curated the Hyphae and The Vault galleries:
For Product Model
- @suicunga and @earthChange_ec continue to develop and distill the For Product model. It is an intricate system to wrap your head around which requires continued effort.
- @adrianseneca mind mapped and created some developing graphics on the model to help explain visually how it works.
Onboarding
- @adrianseneca presented Kin DAO at an in person event called “Moved to the Metaverse” hosted by BAMP in Oakland where DAOs & NEAR were presented.
- We held 2 of the 4 planned onboarding workshops this month for a few reasons. 1) Hyphae galleries required a lot of our time and attention 2) holidays! 3) we decided we need to really distill our curriculum so all students get what they deserve out of this time. 4) Our newly onboarded students required a pre-class session and post-class session with @godofnfts to attend each of the classes. This was not reflected in the budget nor funded. Due to this overload of invisible labor we go into redesign of our class structure. For now we pause as we cultivate a more thorough and appropriate curriculum in January.
- We onboarded and funded the creation of 30+ new NEAR wallets this month which required not only funding but also one on one walkthroughs of basic understanding of the blockchain, crypto and NEAR Protocol. The community that we onboard are from genuine relationships that we have cultivated for many years. They are community members that are invested in long term building with us. We recognize the high value of taking care of our community through this transition so we plan to make crossing the digital divide the focus of our January plans. We are still in the process of gathering the data for all wallets created and community education. A few of the wallets are listed below:
