⅓ [Report/mpDAO Grant #8] Meta Pool Educa ft Open Web Academy

The rapid evolution of emerging technologies that are based on the blockchain ecosystem creates an urgent need to train educational communities (teachers and students) so that they can integrate these advances into educational spaces. In this Blockchain Ecosystem, Decentralized Finance emerges as a tool to be incorporated into the programs of educational institutions. By understanding this new terminology and applying this tool in their daily lives, teachers can enrich their teaching methods and better prepare their students for the future.

Open Web Academy is a community that has brought together more than 2,000 blockchain technology enthusiasts, dedicated to driving projects and sharing knowledge about emerging technologies. Currently, it is carrying out a proposal that aims to design educational plans so that university professors can create experiences based on blockchain in their classrooms. Through Meta Pool services, teachers will learn to implement technological projects, encouraging the use of Meta Pool and promoting the adoption of blockchain technology in the educational field.

The proposal is divided into 3 milestones.

  • Course design, LMS platform and inauguration: This first milestone focuses on the development of educational materials and the pedagogical structure of the course. It includes the creation of a customized LMS (Learning Management System) platform to ensure an interactive and accessible learning experience. Once ready, the course will be formally inaugurated, allowing participants to familiarize themselves with the platform and content.
  • Complete course for teachers: This second milestone covers the execution of the course aimed at teachers, focused on the use of emerging technologies in the classroom. The content is designed to train teachers in fundamentals and practical applications, giving them the necessary tools to integrate blockchain and Meta Pool services into their curricula and foster the development of advanced digital skills in their students.
  • Decentralized Finance (DeFi) course for students: The latest milestone consists of a specialized course for students on Decentralized Finance (DeFi). This program seeks to introduce students to the basic concepts and applications of DeFi, covering topics such as staking, liquid staking, and the use of swaps on the Meta Pool platform. The course combines theory with practice in controlled environments, giving them experience in blockchain and digital finance tools.

By October 22, 2024, the Open Web Academy team has successfully completed milestone number 1 of the 3 milestones of this proposal, having the following results.

Course design content. :books:

It was designed:

Plataforma LMS :school:

The complete course, including its synchronous and asynchronous activities, has been uploaded to the platform edu.ow.academy, managed by the Open Web Academy team. This platform follows the open source philosophy, using the Moodle engine to ensure continuous access to content and monitoring of student progress. Anyone interested in taking the course independently can register for free and start learning about designing educational experiences with blockchain and Meta Pool.

Inauguration of the course. :man_teacher:

15 professors from the Western Institute of Technology and Higher Studies participated in the opening session (ITESO) and 5 assistants interested in the training. A member of Meta Pool’s core team was on hand to provide an introduction to the platform and explain the process that led the DAO to make this course a reality. During the session, the first topic of the course program was also completed.

Great work on the Educa project with Meta Pool and Open Web Academy. It’s fantastic to see education in blockchain and Web3 being promoted within the NEAR community :fire:

What an amazing proposal!, targeting professors with DeFi education and providing the right tools will allow them to pass the DeFi knowledge to their students and spread it exponentially.

:ok_hand:The course has a good structure and will be very useful for the educational community. :busts_in_silhouette:
