Perhaps you have heard a variation of the Chinese proverb
If you give a man a fish, he will be hungry tomorrow . If you teach a man to fish, he will be richer forever.”
This is one
give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime
Charity is giving the man a fish.
Onboarding a community to DAO and the NEAR ecosystem is obviously teaching a community to fish together.
Charity is defined as:
char·i·ty
an organization set up to provide help and raise money for those in need. “the charity provides practical help for homeless people”
the voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of money, to those in need. “the care of the poor must not be left to private charity”
kindness and tolerance in judging others. “she found it hard to look on her mother with much charity”
Please do not use the label charity for our project. We are empowering a community with a DAO and onboarding them to the NEAR ecosystem. This is community empowerment and community building not charity.
So you are saying that council should create the content for and organize multiple events for an entirely different group of people (the people in the Change the Route WhatsApp group), and do followup with as many people as need help to finish every aspect of getting a NEAR wallet, a custom NEAR address, a DAO member NEAR NFT; joining the DAO; and joining the NEAR Governance forum, which we estimate in total will be at least 30 hours of work AND take the $750 allocation and add another $250 out of our pockets to do the $1000 marketing work to bring another group of people (people who don’t know about the Change the Route WhatsApp group) into the NEAR ecosystem?
