Title: Exhibition The Witch’s Journey

OBJECTIVE:
The main objective of this project is to give visibility to women who practice or identify with the ancient culture of witchcraft through NFT art. The works depict different stages of a woman on her path to becoming or discovering herself as a witch. The exhibition will deal with witchcraft as a form of resistance and affirmation of the feminine in a world ruled by patriarchy. The exhibition will be composed of twenty-two works inspired by oracular letters about the process of “becoming a witch”.

JUSTIFICATION:
Probably artists and supposed “witches” have always been the people who have suffered the most prejudice and persecution throughout human history. Often art takes on an air of magic, and in witchcraft there is also a lot of art. Artists and witches have always been on the fringes of society at the same time that they were also at its vanguard. Thus, we think that bringing these two universes “witchcraft” and “art” together through NFT technology will be something disruptive and innovative. The works in the exhibition belong to a witch-artist who will bring to the public a bit of her culture, experience, and quest through her art. Our intention is that the works will lead the public to know and think about ancestral traditions and dialogue with alternative aspects of the deep feminine connected to the forces of nature, the challenges and opportunities of life and the movements of the cosmos.

PROJECT:
The Witch’s Journey exhibition takes place on May 16, 2022. This date was chosen because it is the first day of the full moon in May, which according to some traditions of the witches’ universe is the moment when our experiences and values are illuminated by the clear light of wisdom and when our truest and deepest intentions are revealed.

An informational video will be produced about the exhibition. In this video a guest will get a basic oracular consultation, when they will choose five cards and the witch-artist will perform the oracular interpretation of them.

The Witch’s Journey Exhibition: The gathering of all the visual works will become an NFT, to compose this final work a JPEG file will be produced.

Timeline:
Among our many tasks, we highlight:

  • production of the works
  • planning and general organization (already in progress)
  • finalizing and curating twenty-two of the thirty-four works already selected
  • posting the video on youtube - May 16th
  • production of the texts and promotional materials (already in progress)
  • curation of the texts (May 18th)

CURRICULUM:
Artistic Name: Andréa Sechini
Andréa Sechini is a plastic and digital artist, social scientist graduated by USP, physical educator graduated by Claretiano. Teacher of oriental dances and yoga, researcher of the Witch Culture, composer, actress, and writer.
She is currently doing her master’s degree in Social Anthropology at USP, in Political Economy at UFABC, and is studying theater at the Arts Foundation in SCS.
Andréa has works in NFT exhibited at Fundation, Open Sea, and Near, and has been awarded in several art contests.
Andréa Sechini as a solo artist, researcher and practitioner of the witch culture.
This project proposes the showcase of a larger exhibition that will take place in October and will feature more artists.

Report - Witch’s Journey Exhibition

Project Status: COMPLETED

PROJECT ACCOUNTING:

The exhibition The Journey of the Witch took place May 18-28, 2022, at the Vibes by de C. building in the FEMINU Aquarium at Gambiarra DAO and FEMINU DAO Galleries at Cryptovoxel Metaverse.

The exhibition was so well received by the community that we were able to have it stay for two more days in the space, until May 28.

For the historical record @macieira created two galleries of The Witch’s Journey Exhibition at 3XR Space with his 22 works of art.

@ghini was the exhibition curator

@macieira was responsible for the set up and organization at Cryptovoxel.

UPDATED PROJECT SCHEDULE:
From May 1 to May 12, texts, poster were organized and all dissemination was carried out, as well as invitations sent to the network of artists active in NFT, through Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram and Discord.

From May 14-17 @macieira organized listing of the artworks and set up the exhibition in the FEMINU Aquarium at Cryptovoxels Metaverse.

LEARNING:
Artist Andrea Sechini prepared and produced photographs, black and white drawings, acrylic paintings, pastels, watercolors, and collages. All this material was edited in digital art and then transformed into NFT. Parallel to this process of aesthetic production of the works, there was the conceptual process through research, comprehension, and adaptation of part of an ancient oracle from the artist’s family linked to the tradition of witchcraft.
