[Proposal] Dance for Freedom Shooting

What is the FREEDOM DANCE?

Conceptually the FREEDOM DANCE is a metaphor that expresses the inner struggle between living in material density and the constant pursuit for immaterial freedom.
The idea is to create a simple yet visually mind-blowing video of someone dancing along the shore line on a beach.
We follow the transformation of a dancer from just walking lifelessly and struggling with body movements towards an ecstatic dance that expresses the feeling of being free within the body and fully connected to the soul.

How to manifest the FREEDOM DANCE?

This video will be a one-shot sequence and we will use to our advantage the location, time-of-day, shot framing and acting skills to convey different degrees of freedom sensations.

In the beginning of the video the actress will be walking along the shoreline towards a sunset and we will follow her from a frontal perspective. To convey a sensation of imprisonment the shot will be closed on her upper-body and face. Our character will have a sad and lifeless expression, alienated from herself and her surroundings.

Still with a closed shot, as the progress, there are some small body movements happening that we can infer on the limits of the frame and her expression changes slightly as if she is discovering something new. These movements are shy and even a bit clumsy.

After a while the character stops looking directly at the sun and the expression tells us that she figured out something very precious about herself, about freedom and about the connection with the beauty that is around her.
The camera then turns on her back and now the viewer sees a silhouette in counterlight with the sun in the background.

The character starts to dance full of life and free. The framing is wider now and the viewer can appreciate the integration of Nature and the dancer in full body dancing freely and happily towards the sunset. This composition will as well convey the freedom sensation to the viewer.

Finally the character dances compulsively happy and free in front of the sun until the exhaustion of her body catches up on her. She falls graciously into the sand and lies down still, breathing intensively and with a big smile on her face. She felt the body and the soul were one in the DANCE OF FREEDOM.

What will DANCE OF FREEDOM be?

It will be a video not only to be shared in the NEAR community multi-platform environments that are connected with artistic movements.

In parallel a NFT will be created from this video to reinforce the idea that the pursuit for individual and collective freedom is a fundamental right of any and every human being. This is a particularly important message in the current times that we are living.

Béya brandishes community as her core value, and love as her superpower, harnessing her skills in movement, poetry, and social work to make change and impact. From an early age Béya’s burning drive for social justice and civil rights has shaped everything she does. As an activist, she uses community space holding and social care to help people. Travelling the world exploring mixed movements (including yoga, dance, primal martial arts) have allowed her to give back to community by meeting many people both as a student and a teacher. In addition, her spoken word and poetry hope to make others feel less lonely by relating to her personal experiences of race and mixed-raced identity, mental health, and reflections on life, love, and loss. Through sound, word, movement, active listening and community participation, Béya aims to help deconstruct and rebuild a world where people have access to empowerment, and are connected to each other and Mother Earth.
