[Project PROPOSAL] Star Port Chronicles (Music EP) (NxM) - November - 2021

Hello @Vandal This proposal is for the Star Port Chronicles EP. The Funds request is to go toward the purchase of the rights to use the music (listed as #1 below) and or to pay the voice actors on the EP (listed as #4 below) . The requested amount is $500.00 worth of Near, and the project breakdown is as follows.

  1. Music from NK Beats are $100.00 per track so that brings the total cost to $500.00 being that I need 5 tracks. https://www.beatstars.com/

  4. Voiceover budget I’ll allocate $200 per voice actor times 2 totals $400.00

  5. Costs for Gold Leaf Flakes, Paints, Brushes total $45.00

Hey @Contrail I’m seeing additional items budgeted here, are those already funded? Do keep in mind that there’s a cap of $500 for project proposals at this point in time.

I feel it would be worthwhile to source music from the Beat DAO and NxM community rather than needing to cash out to pay a producer on beatstars… Could the producer accept Near? Also would be great to link your previous work in the proposal so we can have a listen.

Hey @vandal most certainly not exceeding the $500.00 cap. As mentioned previously the $500.00 worth of Near would be applied to the licensing of the music or voice actors. What isn’t covered will either come out of my pocket or from another source of funding. At this point I would simply like to cover costs for the project.

Agreed, it would be great to source the music from Beat DAO or NxM community, and I will most certainly keep that in mind for any future endeavors. But with regards to this project the music has already been selected, and unfortunately they don’t accept Near as a form of payment.

My initial reaction is that:

a] we shouldn’t be using Near/Nxm funds to purchase IP from outside of the ecosystem…[beatstars]…when there is a Near Beat Dao available

b] the artists material resources for the visual elements fall outside of NxM

also…there is no proposal to integrate with Near dApps [Mintbase] for the produced track

This could work as a collab within Near…but I think artist materials is not within our remit…and maybe fits with Createbase or Muti

@vandal @zeitwarp thanks for your input. I just purchased the rights to the music from NK Beats. I am also not seeking and wasn’t under the impression that I would secure funding for visual elements from NxM… the items were merely listed to paint a clearer picture of the overall scope of the Star Port Chronicles project (I will get alternative sources of funding for those expenses… for instance, out of my pocket); as I am well aware that it’s outside of the scope of NxM. Additionally, I have an account with Mintbase, and this is where the project will potentially live (that’s if I make the decision to use the platform) . The funds for this particular proposal, as stated previously would be applied to the voice over budget, which should fall within the scope of NxM.
