Introduction - Favela DAO
Hi, NEAR fam!
We came here to present Favela DAO, a union between two pre-existing projects [Bekopi (an art and music project by @becopro and @klarakopi) and Favelaverso (by @0X7RJAMARO)] to bring people from peripheral communities, favela (slum) residents, to the web3. The information related to web3, blockchains, metaverse and the like is still very centralized in bubbles that have greater purchasing power and we would like to help change that!
MISSION:
Bringing people who live in underprivileged regions to the web3 by providing information, education, access and instrumentation facilitating the adoption of blockchain technology in these regions.
VISION:
We believe that acting locally and thinking globally while improving the lives of those around us makes a difference. The people who live in the favelas are creative, full of willpower, entrepreneurship, solicitous and open to new possibilities.
We believe that providing education and access to new technologies can create decentralized centers of knowledge production in the periphery and expand from there, showing that web3 is not only in the centers, a real decentralization.
OBJECTIVES:
- Promote events to bring the local reality closer to the metaverse
- Onboard as many people as possible to promote change
- Create workshops aimed at educating people in a practical and simple way
- Educate the community by introducing ecosystem tools
- Fund creative community ventures
- Encourage collaboration
- Create opportunities and reward participation
- Establish partnerships within and outside the ecosystem
- Long-term self-sustainability
- Promote digital inclusion associated with the NEAR Protocol brand
ROADMAP:
Month 1-2 (already in progress):
- We created our DAO using the Astro DAO dApp to manage our community
- We created social media channels - Instagram, Twitter, Youtube
- We created a temporary logo (soon we will launch a new visual identity)
- We created a Mintbase Store for the DAO
- Built a space in the metaverse already in use for meetings and events ( Hyperfy )
- We held the first Baile do Galpão, the first favela funk dance party in the metaverse featuring a DJ resident of the Morro dos Prazeres favela, it took place in the Bekopi Voxels metaverse space (without funds, everyone donated their works to make this historic event possible)
- We organized our first exhibition by forming partnerships with Brazilian projects and artists (to be held in November 4th, 2022)
- We onboarded 3 members to Favela DAO via a video call, creating portfolios via the nearnames dApp, inviting them to the forum and adding them to our Astro DAO
- Weekly participation in at least 2 Brazilian Twitter Spaces promoting DAO and NEAR Protocol
- The next Baile do Galpão event is scheduled for November 13th and will feature 3 DJs who will be onboarded at NEAR
Month 3 to 6:
- Hold our first education and onboarding workshop at Morro dos Prazeres
- Organize our second art exhibition in the metaverse and promote NEAR among artists
- Continue to acquire followers and participants
- Continue to hold the Baile d’Or o Shed in the metaverse
- Digital art workshops to be presented in our metaverse, including creation of NFTs as a product of the
- ongoing Onboarding class of members to the DAO with the aim of decentralizing decisions and expanding our project
- Set aside part of the funds for research and use of De -Fi for DAO self-sustainability purposes
- Seek partnerships inside and outside NEAR for DAO self-sustainable development
- Create a reserve for social purposes using 5% of received funds (at first, we intend to increase later)
- Onboarding of peripheral musicians and DJs and educational workshop for the use of music-related platforms at NEAR (such as Tamago) and possibilities of partnering with LP DAO for live performances in the metaverse.
- Onboarding of graffiti artists, also aiming at the creation of NFTs, exhibition in the metaverse, IRL event and partnership with Graffiti DAO
- Creation of a Batalha de Passinho event thinking about a partnership with Dance DAO and onboarding of dancers.
- Onboarding peripheral writers to use dApps like Blogchain to create content. Possible partnerships: Writers Guild, Incubator etc.
- Produce the 6th edition of Meta Campfire (a Bekopi project) in Portuguese in our metaverse
- Create simple and direct video content for onboarding on various NEAR dApps and web3 in general
- Fund projects suggested and voted on by DAO members
- Monthly meeting with DAO members for review, listening to project suggestions and improvements
- Weekly participation in other Brazilian Twitter Spaces promoting DAO and NEAR Protocol
- Promoting their own weekly Twitter Space for AMAs and conversations about Favela DAO and NEAR Protocol
- Creation of an LLC for the DAO
Months 7 to 9:
- Continue previous projects
- Create new Astro DAO category for investor members, onboard after purchasing an NFT for this purpose
- Fund projects suggested and voted on by DAO members
- Create an IRL Hub for information exchange, contact, lectures, NEAR Protocol dissemination and project presentation
- Monthly meeting with DAO members to review, hear suggestions and improve the project
- Pa Weekly participation in other Brazilian Twitter Spaces promoting DAO and NEAR Protocol
- Promote own weekly Twitter Space for AMAs and conversations about Favela DAO and NEAR Protocol
Months 10 to 12:
- Continue with previously successful projects
- Review our progress in the first 3 quarters at a general meeting with members of the DAO
- Adjust our actions according to the outcome of the meeting
- Onboard devs and promote educational events aimed at training people interested in this area
SPECIFIC PLAN FOR THE ECOSYSTEM
- Integration of dApps and tools from the NEAR ecosystem (Astro DAO, Mintbase, 3XR, Blogchain, Ref.finance, Tamago, etc.)
- Onboarding people from different areas to NEAR, incentivizing the use of the metaverse and web3 in general
- DAO to DAO collaborations and community supporting
- Promoting NEAR Protocol on web2 on Twitter Spaces, creating content on Twitter/IG/Youtube showing NEAR Protocol and its dApps use cases

Beco Pro is a graffiti and visual artist since 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2020 he joined the web3 and in 2021 he joined the NEAR ecosystem where he has been working since January 2022 as a reporter for events in the metaverse and as a former council member of the Metaverse DAO. Now he wants to share all he has learned on this time with his peers.

Cultural producer in Rio de Janeiro since 2010, one of the founders of Black Santa (a black culture collective that produces events on Rio de Janeiro). He was onboarded by Beco Pro after a successful partnership, to create Favela DAO together.
