Hi @IgbozeIsrael – thanks for the proposal. We’ve been referring proposals for hackathons to Hackbox, since that’s what they are exclusively focused on and can provide comprehensive support around this kind of initiative.

https://near.org/hackbox.near/widget/home

Can you apply to them and then perhaps if supplementary funding is needed for a workshop related to the event, MarketingDAO can consider?

Thanks @so608 for your response. DevHub Hack box said till February of next year before they can fund this kind of proposal. That they already have their hands full atm.

If the issue for MDAO is the high sum, we could consider reducing the prizes for the winners…however, we wanted to have what will attract these devs.

Hello @IgbozeIsrael ! I can support your proposal. Please help to build Global DAO, which will be focused on this kind of initiative.

Since November, your proposals should be aligned with NDC goals and KPIs. Have a great day!

Hi @IgbozeIsrael thanks for your proposal. I note that this request was postponed from October . I am concerned that the timeframe to organise and publicise your event is now very short. Is there any contingency to move the dates for the event?

Hi @IgbozeIsrael We are reviewing this proposal after it was postponed from October’s review period to November. In general, I think Hackathons and Dev events can result in a great value for the use of community funds. I also note that the proposal is coming from longtime ecosystem contributors with a solid track record.

I do have a few questions about what’s outlined in the proposal:

  • Would like to understand timing as @cryptocredit mentioned – since this proposal has been delayed, does that change the event dates/timeline for this? When will you hold the event, if funding is approved?
  • Who will present the educational elements of the event? Is it the organizing team who will be on-site to host workshops and help introduce attendees to NEAR protocol?
  • Regarding the BOS components that will be developed, I think it’s important to emphasize the need to build components that people in the NEAR ecosystem need and will actively use. Is there a strategy you have for helping developers understand what the ecosystem needs most right now? I don’t think it’s a good use of funds to develop components that will go unused. Utility is very important.
  • There are a lot of marketing channels/strategies mentioned for promoting the event and attracting attendees. Who’s social channels and email lists will be used to raise awareness about the event? What community partners will you be working with to spread the word? You mentioned an event web site – does this already exist? If not, what are you planning to use to build it? I would recommend using a free event tool or simple landing page if possible. I don’t think there’s a need to build out a full web site for this at this stage.
  • Who will the speakers be, what will the workshops cover?
  • Note the MarketingDAO does not cover costs for paid ads on Google and social.

I look forward to your answers! Thanks!

Thanks for requesting answers to these questions.
We submitted this proposal with new dates. [Approved] Kano is BOS Developer Event.

The team will be on-site to present the workshops. This will be done such that not only devs will be taught to build on BOS but dApps on NEAR be introduced to end users.

We were looking at both what will be useful for the locals and reusable components. They could range from simple games, to social related ideas.

We plan on using local social channels to promote the event. Radio stations in the state, Social media influencers on TikTok, WhatsApp, Facebook, and IG. For emails, a special email for the event will be opened to interact with the audience.

Speakers will range from some Northern ecosystem founders who we will use to broaden the event with insights into Blockchain, I, The three team members, and two more ecosystem OGs from Nigeria to engage on this.

We were looking at a simple landing page to help interested persons see the validity in the event. This won’t go at costs aside the domain name as our team is capable of building A-Z. However, if MDAO doesn’t see the need, we will put it aside.
