[APPROVED] Ready Layer One Podcast Series of Episodes

Project Name: Ready Layer One Podcast
Link: Ready Layer One • A podcast on Anchor
Funding: Series of episodes

Hello all! We’re back proposing a new grant to help continue and grow the Ready Layer One podcast. We continue to have had a lot of success since our last request despite the ongoing down market. We have a clear action plan to continue building out our content in support of the NEAR ecosystem and educating people on crypto.

Changes & Growth Since Last Grant Request:
[[REPORT] Ready Layer One Podcast budget for next month of episodes]

Updated Project Description:
Two long-time friends have a weekly podcasts about what is going on in the crypto world, specifically within NEAR. In addition we have weekly guests from within the NEAR & Aurora ecosystem to talk about their projects.

Funding Requests:
We are looking for a grant to support the next series (10,000 USD total / ~2,298N at the moment):

At least 8 (we did 15 since the last grant) full-length audio & video episodes (time for research, recording, editing, promotion) - at least 2 episodes released per week (similar to the pace of what we have done so far)
This includes help for editing videos and cutting clips for social media. Which we now post across our YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter accounts.
Cost per episode breakdown include:

  • Editors
  • Post Production
  • Optimized Show Notes
  • Social Media Artwork
  • Audio & Video Trailers
  • Featured Quotes
  • SEO Heavy Blog Post & Transcripts
  • Social Media promotion & content

DAO: ready-layer-one.sputnik-dao.near
Wallet: readylayerone.near - Owned by Jared & Joe

Continued Impact:
This will continue to help promote the NEAR ecosystem by giving those within the ecosystem a chance to tell their story and be part of the recorded history of NEAR. We also believe that we can become a positive voice in the community to help educate newcomers and current users on what is happening in the NEAR ecosystem and how to make the best of their experience. Since our original grant we now have projects of all sizes coming to us to be on the podcast. We regularly have a long backlog of potential guests. As this is not our full-time work it is hard to keep up with all of the requests but we see this as a good problem and proof that our content is resonating.

Our expansion to YouTube and TikTok have really grown our overall reach and our NEAR focused content, specifically educational type of content, does well in those short formats. Additionally, we have added in weekly marketing Twitter Spaces to bring the community together around how to better market NEAR as a whole.

Continued Success measurements:
Success for us will be both listeners (per episode and across all) and community engagement. For community engagement, we will try to measure the reach of our show/content on social media channels and qualitative feedback on the work we are doing.
We hope to see our reach and overall engagement continue to grow month over month.

We believe our endeavor will continue to be successful since our message about NEAR and crypto comes from a place of passion. Additionally our skillset in content creation and community engagement is showing dividends as our voice in the community is helping improve overall engagement. Additionally, with our different backgrounds in marketing and software, we are well equipped to develop and execute a roadmap that includes content creation, marketing, and product development.

Thank you for your continued support.

Team (Hosts):
Jared is a content creator and crypto investor. Starting his crypto journey in early 2017 he learned a lot from the ICO boom and bust cycle, followed by the multiyear bear market. Today he focuses on web3 and NFTs. He’s the director of video for a tech company in NYC. For the past 10 years he’s been focused on marketing content that amplifies the brand strategy and delivers the content globally for marketing and social media teams.

Joe is a software developer and architect with over 15 years in the web2 space. He started with crypto back in 2017 as well and began tinkering with web3 and NEAR in 2021. His day job currently is as an integration architect for a global software development company but is working to move to web3. He provides the technical viewpoints on the podcast and will serve as tech lead for any Ready Layer One related projects.

Hey @joe-rlo

Really enjoy the work that you’re doing. Before approving, we just need a bit more detail.

With every proposal, we’re trying to tie in deliverables and break down project-level items / tasks across channels.

Questions

How many new episodes with you release?

How many videos will you repurpose for TikTok and Youtube Shorts?

How many twitter spaces will you run?

Further Clarifications

Video and Audio Production:

  • Editors (Video + Audio)
Estimated number of hours / videos?

  • Post Production
Wouldn’t this fall under the editors category?

  • Audio & Video Trailers
How many trailers for Audio and for Video do you plan on producing?

Content Writing / Design - Summaries / Promotion

  • Optimized Show Notes
Would this be the same as SEO Heavy Blog Post & Transcripts

  • Social Media Artwork
Specifically what types and how much artwork will be produced (infographics / banners/ etc)?

  • Featured Quotes
Are these video, audio, and image posts? If so, how many?

  • SEO Heavy Blog Post & Transcripts
Can you clarify the tools and work being done to give

  • Social Media promotion & content
Can you clarify an estimated number of posts across which channels?

Looking forward to seeing and hearing more from the crew! Keep it up.

Thanks for your proposal!

RLA is rapidly growing to be one of the core pillars for content creation and marketing on the NEAR ecosystem. Couple of thing to note:

  • High quality content;
  • Endorsed by NEARWEEK;
  • Will be attending and presenting at NEARCOn at NF request;
  • Professional standard;
  • Experimental, successfully expanding horizontally to other mediums such as Short fort videos
  • Going beyond the content and being a very active member of the community, onboarding others, etc.

The only thing I would note for the sake of consistency and simplicity would be to have a price tag for each episode. It is fine if you’ve created more episodes since the last request, there is some leeway to include episodes that have already been published with new proposals, etc.

I am happy to support this proposal, please consider the above and let me know if we can structure it in a way that is simpler to approach going forward.

Thank Taylor, happy to respond.

We plan to release 8 full episodes under this grant.

For TikTok & Shorts we plan to have at least 24, but typically we get 3-5 clips per episode

We plan to run at least 4 spaces

Editing varies from 1 hour on news episodes, to 2-3 hours on interviews depending on how it went. Post-production can be extra specifically around the shorts.

Trailers are for interview-based episodes, where we typically do 1-2.

Yes, show-notes and blog posts are the same for now, this may change in the future but for this proposal it’s the same. We outsource this work to provide these detailed show notes.

For featured quotes, this varies. We don’t have a set number but typically it’s been video or an image. We do these ourselves.

For social media content, we do 2-3 per episode from our main account and then another 2-3 unique posts from our personal accounts to share. We also prepare posts to showcase our shorts. In addition, we create ecosystem promotional posts, this number can vary depending on what is happening.

Happy to support. Thank you for the great content and quick response

Thank you for your continued support!

This grant is for 8 new full-length episodes and ~24 new shorts.

We estimate $800 per episode plus $150 per short. We are not looking for funding for anything that is already done, just building forward

Thanks for answering the council’s questions and the breakdown on costs – it’s clear you’re doing high quality work – do you have a report that you can share for the previous MarketingDAO funding you received? I’d like to review growth/progress Thanks!

I’m also noting that you have approval from three members of the council via our MarketingDAO tracking spreadsheet so I am moving this to approved. But would love to see your report on metrics all the same.
