[report] july/august activities of near nigeria

The past 2 month as been quite busy for the entire NEAR NIGERIA team despite the fact july proposal was closed and we had to work on some aspects @marketingdao-council prescribed we had to work on According to thid closed july proposal.

[CLOSED] near nigeria july marketing activities.

Despite that the team kept on its usual activities in Nigeria as a Regional Guild which involved

Marketing, advocacy, Signing off both local and global partnerships and finally Community growth in form of AMAs and twitter spaces.

The following were achieved over the month of july to August.

  1. Despite the fact the social media team weren’t rewarded for their activities this past two months they still made sure number of active followers increased by atleast 20%. We can see a drastic decrease in tweet number and impressions this is due to simple due to factors highlighted above.

  2. The content team as been quite busy improving on its Deliverables this past two months. With suggestions from @so608 and @Klint to improve on general quality and make it NEAR specific, that was looked into and within this two month , the content team were able to create 7 articles highlighting topics such as
NEAR and its Social good to Nigerians
And technical Contents such as how to write an NFT smart contract on the NEAR blockchain.

Summary of activities can be viewed below

  1. Another team which was consistently in its output was the translation team. As a Regional guild one of our mandate is to make any NEAR documents readable to its locals, meaning been available in YORUBA, IGBO and HAUSA Languages. This past two months saw 4 articles translated into the 3 Languages meaning a total of 12 translation is available.

Summary of translated work can be viewed here

  1. In relation to Community building and management. Been a Regional Guild, one of our major task is to grow an active community in which NEAR will be proud of and projects can use to grow a minimum viable community around.
We were able to maintain a steady growth of community members on telegram reaching 4000+ and community members generally on all social media platforms to 10,000 total members.
The tasks assigned to community managers include the following 1) informing community of latest happening in the near ecosystem and Nigeria 2) Customer service 3) Removing scam reports 4) creating activities that promote education etc.
Summary of activities are present here.

  2. The developer units created 3 technical articles over the course of this 2 months and are currently training 3 developers who have picked up interest in learning RUST and how to build on the NEAR blockchain as interns.
Currently they are planning to host the NEAR HACK HOUSE This September.

  3. Graphics team: Weekly graphics and videos covering latest happening in the cryptosphere, project of the week 1 page summary, weekly round up in the NEAR ECOSYSTEM, AMA, twitter spaces, partnerships etc. The graphics team have been seen to continously improve in output despite the present situation.
Summary of activities can be seen here.

  4. The partnership team as been up and doing in making sure projects in Nigeria are directed to individuals and entities that will solve either their technical or non technical issues in relation to building on NEAR. The partnership team spends minimal of 10hrs per week to attend to startups who want to seek partnership in Nigeria or are looking to penetrate the Africa market.

In summary despite the current challenge of no funds allocated to NEAR NIGERIA this past 2 months we were able to achieve the above. Simply because our motive is to see NEAR become the one stop blockchain to build on in Africa.

My name is Kabiru Hussain @kbounce1 the social media manager of Near Protocol Nigeria. What the council has been doing to Near Protocol Nigeria team members is transparently unfair. I have been working for the whole 8 months of 2022 towards promoting the gospel of Near Protocol, engaging in different contents from Near Protocol and it’s Ecosystem, Hosting Twitter spaces and AMAs, different publications to mention but a few but without pay. Out of these 8 months we were only paid for JUST 2 MONTHS. Most atimes we spent money out of our pocket to keep the Guild going and for community rewards. This is just unfair for us. We made a proposal for July that was closed recently, if it was closed why not review our previous proposals which was not even looked in to for the past months which we worked for? Why not think of sending some operations funds that will keep the Guild going even if its not all that was asked in the proporsal. But once every month is passed and funds were not sent we keep on working and the chapter will just be closed.

Working every day 24/7 for the whole month as a social media manager without pay is just doesn’t make sense. Since the establishment of Near Protocol Nigeria we gave life to alot of different other guilds and sub guilds here in Nigeria and Africa. And those other ones have been receiving their pay to carry out activities which is not even closer to the ones we did, then why not us??
Is it because we are too quiet or what. I wrote this piece to express what we are facing in terms of payment to the whole council members and the Marketing DAO council as well. @marketingdao-council @David_NEAR @so608 @Klint

Kudos team! We surely did great work this past months. Though the closing of our previous proposal without any negotiation and deliberations to meet us halfway was rather discouraging, My team and I have kept a positive attitude and continued doing what we do best, promoting Near protocol in several ways in our Region.

Great work team Nearprotocol Nigeria.
But regarding the close of the proposal my team and feels it wasn’t fair as all hard works went down the drain when the proposal was closed,it would have been negotiated out rather than closing it.

Team Near protocol Nigeria is a very hard working team and we will always put our best to achieve Success.

First i will like to appreciate every core team member of NEAR Protocol Nigeria.
To be very honest it has very challenging if not the challenging year since the creation of the guild. We worked for eight months and got paid twice is very sad.
i want the Core Team members to look into the what we are rendering as a guild. Our aim is to deliver our best in promoting NEAR and its ecosystem, which we have continued to do despite low or no payment but there is less or no encouragement this is very unfair. July was the most challenging Month and closing our Proposal just few days to the end of the month is very saddening why not cut the amount or reduce what is not clear just like how my colleagues earlier stated. we hope for a better reinforcement from the Core Team thanks. @marketingdao-council @David_NEAR @damboy22 @Dacha

My major highlights of these past two months from this guild was the AMA sessions and twitter spaces. I must admit that I always had a take home lesson which has helped me being knowledgeable about NEAR Protocol ecosystem. Well-done guys and keep impacting communities…

Exactly that should have been something to consider, Near Nigeria has been recognized as the face of NEAR in Nigeria and other African countries, From build up projects, blockchains hub including Fintech. Something should have been considered for taking care of other operations of the Guild. Stuffs like this has been happening but we just kept mute as we believed in the good work we do and the dedication.
