[PROPOSAL] FanStroke - A Decentralized Fantasy Sports Platform on NEAR

The current fantasy sports market is $18.3 billion in 2020, and it’s expected to grow at a CAGR of 14.2% to reach nearly $40.6 billion by 2026.

Though the industry is enormous, it is still plagued with various issues such as high entry fees, cheating, and deceit. But most importantly, it has still not adopted blockchain, which gives FanStroke a huge potential to revamp the fantasy sports industry & bring it on-chain.

FanStroke is a decentralized fantasy gaming platform built on NEAR Protocol, which offers players the ability to join and compete in fantasy sports leagues. Whether you’re a casual player or a hardcore fantasy sports enthusiast, FanStroke has something for everyone. The platform lets anyone participate in various leagues such as Cricket, Football, NBA Rugby, etc, and win prizes.

Players can either use NEAR or FanStroke tokens to join existing pools for various league matches. The platform will also provide support to track real-time stats and scores while engaging with other players in the community.

FanStroke gaming platform will be launched in two phases.

Phase 1 has two games that allow users to Play & Earn(P2E). The game requires users to deposit a minimal fee to participate, which is refunded back to the users if they don’t win. The Phase 1 games provide an opportunity for a large number of users to experience blockchain games without any loss.

FanStroke Market - A decentralized information markets platform that aids the markets in demystifying real-world events. Now predict all the events ranging from Cinema, Politics, Sports, Finance, etc. Inspired by Augur, PolyMarket & PancakeSwap Price Prediction.

  • Yes/No Prediction (Will Chicago Bulls win today’s match? Yes/No),
  • Price Prediction (What price will Ref Finance trade on May 3rd, 2022?)

FanStroke No Loss Lottery - An application that helps save your crypto from spending & provides a chance of winning a prize. Inspired by Pool Together and PancakeSwap Lottery.

Phase 2 is all about the FanStroke Fantasy Sports platform. The game will allow players to use NEAR or our native FanStroke tokens to participate in different pools with different prize money for leagues such as Cricket, Football, Rugby, and NBA.

Project roadmap:

Q2 2022 - Website development, DAO creation, Community building, Marketing campaign, Alpha Test Phase 1

WHY FANSTROKE IS NOT GAMBLING? FANSTROKE UPDATED STRATEGY

To avoid confusion about Gambling, FanStroke has decided to remove Phase - 1 of the game and focus only on Phase 2 which is purely a fantasy sports application.

FanStroke has taken great care to comply with all the rules and regulations in India where the game is majorly focused on catering to these audiences.

There have been instances in which the Fantasy sports applications in India were brought to court seeking to ban stating that it’s illegal & gambling. But the honorable Supreme court and High courts of India have passed various judgments stating that Fantasy sports do not come under the curfew of gambling.

As the users need to select various team players consisting of real players & as the outcome of the game is dependent purely on the skill it is categorized as a ‘game of mere skill’ and the Supreme Court of India exempted the Fantasy Sports games from the provisions of the Public Gambling Act, 1867 (PGA).

Apart from this, the FanStroke will also become a member of Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports(FIFS) which is the only self-governing regulatory body in India for fantasy sports that protects the consumer interests and promotes the best standards for the entire industry. So I’d kindly request the team to reconsider the application & help us support in building the next big fantasy sports application for India.

The world of betting on sports and playing on the FanStroke Dapp might seem very similar, but this similarity is only available on a superficial level. It becomes clear after a slightly closer look that both elements of being involved in sports are completely different. For example, betting is all about putting money on an event taking place and the rewards can be huge if the prediction turns out to be successful. There is very little skill that is involved in the process.

However, the selection of players to succeed in a competition is as difficult as building a real team and making it successful.

The user needs to have a clear knowledge of the game and players. Let’s take the game of Cricket. The users got to select 11 players who should perform well in that particular game. The user should be a hardcore fan following to understand the

  • Which Team is playing

  • Which Venue( Home ground favor)

  • Player’s current form

  • Pitch Condition

  • Fitness of the player

This is due to the amount of research and knowledge that has to go into the team selection. There are also numerous rules and regulations that need to be adhered to, as users are allowed only a certain number of players from a specific team. The changes to the team cannot be made at all times and there are specific limitations regarding the same.

So FanStroke is all about selecting a Team that requires the skill and deep understanding of the game and players.

FanStroke is all about the thought process and skill set of the user.

  1. The outcome is mainly determined by mental or physical skill, rather than chance.
  2. It may have elements of chance, but skill plays a greater role in determining its outcome.
  3. Based on one’s knowledge and expertise of the subject.
  4. One in which success primarily depends on the superior knowledge, training, attention, experience, and adroitness of the player.
  5. The element of skill predominates over the element of chance.
