[Proposal] Community-Centered Game Hackathon by C1 Foundation and MarmaJ

We are excited to propose a Community-Centered Game Hackathon, an event that brings together developers and creators to ideate and develop a game that showcases the C1 Foundation’s charitable initiatives. The hackathon will not only foster creativity, innovation and engagement within the gaming community but also raise awareness about the C1 Foundation’s mission and impact on society.

Objectives:

-To create a community-centered game that incorporates elements of the C1 Foundation’s charitable activities and values.

-To engage and onboard developers (with focus on Africans) , creators, and the gaming community in a meaningful and impactful project that aligns with social causes.

  • To raise awareness about the C1 Foundation and MarmaJ and our efforts in supporting various charitable initiatives.

  • To provide a platform for collaboration, networking, and learning for participants and attendees.

Structure:
-The hackathon will be a day-long event, featuring teams of developers and creators who will work collaboratively to create innovative and inspiring games.

-One game will be decided on but all participants will be rewarded in various ways. The chosen game will go on to be developed and hosted by MarmaJ for the time being.

-The event’s themes will revolve around community engagement, social impact, and showcasing the C1 Foundation’s core values.

-The judging panel will consist of experts from the gaming industry, representatives from the C1 Foundation, and community leaders within the NEAR ecosystem.

To incentivize participants and recognize their efforts, we propose the following awards:

Best Overall Game: $250

Most Innovative Concept: $150

Best Implementation of C1 Foundation’s Values: $100

Judges Compensation: $75 for each (for 4 judges)

Flyers/Posters: $40

Total: $840

-we will also collaborate with at least one media partner to amplify the event’s reach.

Conclusion:
Hosting the Community-Centered Game Hackathon is an opportunity to combine the power of gaming and technology with the spirit of charitable initiatives. Through this event, we aim to leave a lasting impact on both the gaming community and the society we serve.

We welcome collaborations with organizations that share a common interest in social impact, gaming, and community building. Potential partners may include gaming studios, tech companies, educational institutions, and other charity organizations.
