When new users land on the House of Stake page and want to delegate their voting power, it is not immediately clear how they should choose a delegate. Currently, users can read a delegate’s description, however this alone doesn’t provide enough insight into how active or knowledgeable a delegate actually is. There is a risk of delegating to someone who is not contributing meaningfully to proposals or to the broader ecosystem.
So, in order to improve transparency and make delegation choices more informed, I believe the platform should display additional metrics for each delegate. How? When a user clicks “Sort by” he should be able to sort the delegates based on:
- Total Number of Delegations Received
- Ecosystem Footprint Score: Number of interactions the delegate’s wallet has had across the NEAR ecosystem (e.g: on-chain activity, DAO votes, contract interactions, etc)
- Delegate Statement Score (how accurate the Description / Top Issues are
- Participation Rate in Past Votes
- Proposal Creation / Contribution Count: Number of proposals the delegate has authored, co-authored or commented on across NEAR governance platforms
These metrics would give delegators a better sense of who is actively using and participating in NEAR, making the delegation process more data-driven.
Also, highlighting “endorsed” delegates may unintentionally centralize voting power around a small group. It’s not clear how these endorsements are given and this could lead to skewed governance dynamics.
