Blockchain Club of Uganda Guild report

Salute Nearians,

As it is required by the community to provide guild reports for accountability purposes, the here is our guild report for the past 2 months.

The Blockchain Club of Uganda guild has had snowed under several activities amongst them contributing to the National Sandbox on Crypto and Blockchain regulation in Uganda as part of the Blockchain Association of Uganda, a self governing regulator of Blockchain in Uganda. The very recent one being the Blockchain DevFest, Kampala in which the Blockchain Club of Uganda was closely involved.

Meanwhile, it is also worthwhile to recap our recent event in Kampala “Web3 is Near Kampala” which took place on the 21st May, 2022 at the Makerere University Innovation and Incubation Centre.
This attracted 70 members who were predominantly campus students and with a technical background with presentations from David Lumala RealLumala (Eng. David Lumala) · GitHub, Opio Elias eliashezron (eliashezron) · GitHub which we technical as explained in the event proposal and finally from myself who who took the audience through wallet opening.
A total of 55 wallets were opened and 50 of them received 0.5Near(N) tokens.
The event was graced by majorly members of the GDSC of Makerere University who are still trying to transition to Web3.
This encouraged us to highlight a number of useful resource such as the Near University program and Lear to earn challenge on Dacade Challenges - NEAR Community | Dacade
Some scenes from the event can be found here Web3 is Near, Kampala - Google Drive
A list of opened wallets can also be found here Near Wallets @ Web3 is Near - Google Docs

Finally, we are currently establishing on how best to collaborate with @Sankore2.0 regional hub who are located in our neighbourhood in producing more technical members. We shall soon make our pinch program known in which we seek to make good use of Paul Otieno who is a certified instructor. Through this, we shall as well start hosting hackathons.
