A. Delegation Address: yuensid.near
B. Forum Username: @yuen
C. Twitter Username: @yuensid
D. Website (optional): Na
E. Target Voting Participation: I will participate in all proposals unless a major conflict of interest happens.
F. History of Interactions with NEAR Protocol:
I’ve been part of the NEAR ecosystem since 2022, starting with NFT communities. In 2023, I worked with the GWG in the NDC initiative, handling operations and community management. In 2024, I contributed to NEAR Banyan on the NEAR Catalog initiative and Near Ecosystem Connect. I also served as an admin for Onboard DAO, helping with operations and administrative tasks.
During the meme coin season, I worked closely with different projects, providing advice and supporting their efforts to push the DeFi scene on NEAR for collabs and create campaigns for the community. Currently, I’m part of the NEAR Community Squad, managing moderation and ecosystem support. With a rich history working in NEAR from different areas in NEAR, I wish to continue to help push the NEAR ecosystem and play my role to push NEAR.
G. History of Governance Participation (in NEAR or other ecosystems):
I’ve played a role during the formation of NDC so I have the experience and knowledge of how the framework was done and past learnings that need to be avoided. Working with the different DAOs during NDC also shown me how DAO worked and the different types of way to operate DAOs.
H. Top 3 Priorities for the NEAR Ecosystem:
-
Create a proof of work initiatives - We currently have a lot of talented people in NEAR that aren’t fully utilized and if they provide value to the ecosystem they should be rewarded and encourage to continue push the ecosystem.
-
Documentation and Guides - NEAR needs more documentation and guides for users to come into NEAR and start shipping and developing amazing products. There was always a lack of documentation and I wish to get people into the ecosystem to create easy to understand guides with projects in the ecosystem.
-
Small grants and short term support - We current have a lot of amazing projects that currently are building or wish to build in NEAR. A small grant support can help those existing builders to continue building and developing in NEAR, while newer projects will be able to tap into this grant system to prove on whether the ecosystem should support their development with larger funding.
I. Reasoning for any past votes in the NEAR Ecosystem:
I’ve voted in every past proposal during the NDC governance and while it was sad that it failed in the end. It provided me with a lot of learning experience and understanding of how governance worked. While I cannot remember each and every one of the proposals that I voted on but I ensure I took part in every vote to fulfill my role as a NEARian.
J. Conflicts of Interest:
I’m current working with the NEAR community Squad. I also work and advice defi project like Blackdragon, REF and other meme coins in NEAR.
K. Answer Hypothetical Delegate Scenario:
Prompt: The NEAR ecosystem is evaluating opportunities to stimulate onchain activity. In this hypothetical scenario, there are three different proposals for the Foundation to consider:
- A proposal to allocate incentives to DeFi protocol users to benefit protocol metrics.
- A proposal to establish a subcommittee to market the NEAR Protocol to developers and users.
- A proposal to establish a Protocol-Owned Liquidity position by the House of Stake on major DeFi protocols in the ecosystem.
For proposal 1:
a. I would like a breakdown on what kind of aspects do they plan to incentives from swapping, bridging, lending, burrowing and more. Since there is REF, Burrow, Satoshi, Veax, Mitte, Meme.cooking, Rainbow Bridge, Near Intent etc. I want a breakdown on how how the budget will be allocated for each category they plan to incentives.
b. My metrics will be the dollar cost value increase for this initiative. Currently there is a defi vertical called Frontier that is supporting the defi projects in NEAR. I would work with them to understand what are the current defi metrics in NEAR and what would be the expected number increase based on dollar cost value. Based on that information I’ll reach out to the proposer to see if they can achieve the needed metrics with the expected budget. Then work to get the needed resources outside of just the grants provided once passed like networking, connect to Defi project founder and available marketing resources to help push this out. Since Gauntlet has also worked closely with other DeFI protocols, I would also refer to them for feedback and advise.
c. I would support this proposal if the team can collaborate and work together with House of Stake with a smaller budget first as an experiment and further tweak and improve it based on the findings. Defi has been needing support for some time now and we want sure that the experiment will not cause too much of a budget sink.
For proposal 2:
a. This is a much needed proposal in NEAR and I would support it to get more developer and users into the ecosystem. I would look into the proposal and see what are the criteria and screening for subcommittee and ensure that will be chosen. We want to make sure they have ran successful devrel or web3 communities before hand.
b. Here are some criteria I would like to see
Devs
- Projects created with developers
- Devrels onboarded
- Detailed dev guides and documentation created
- Number of Github repos created on NEAR
Users
- Wallets onboarded
- Transactions done on-chain
- Near social accounts created
- Governance proposal participation rate and user count
c. I would support the proposal if the team can work with NEAR dev and devhub for developers onboarding. Since they are the existing developer hubs in NEAR, have some learnings and insights from them will help reduce redundancy and quicken the process. They need to also look into how they can tap into amazing devs and users from different regions as well since we have a large market in web3.
For proposal 3:
a. The proposal needs to include who and which DeFi protocol it would work with to create the Liquidity Positions. Since we need to have a contracts with those DeFi protocols, to ensure that the LPs are utilized efficiently and it will benefit the House of Stake.
b. Key metrics that I want to see are
- Extra APY for the Liquidity positions
- Extra rewards in the form of protocol tokens or future airdrops
- Growth of TVL after the LP injection
- New Users onboarded from other chains
c. I would support this proposal since it will give more benefits to House of Stake and help grow NEAR TVL and defi count. By having more tokens flowing through the DeFi scene in NEAR, more user can do bigger traders without having to worry about price impact. This will lead to more and more liquidity flowing into the ecosystem.
L. What is your motivation for becoming a NEAR delegate?
I can say that I consider NEAR as my home when I first joined and connected with the people in the ecosystem. I want to continue to help push the ecosystem development and get the needed support for the talented people in NEAR. If NEAR succeeds, then I consider that I succeed if I took part in helping any way I could no matter small or large. I want to see the communities and members back again during 2023 where people everyone was so welcoming and everyone was shipping things daily.
M. Anticipated Delegation Support
I currently do not have any anticipated delegation support but are open to talk and discuss any delegation from anyone in NEAR if our vision and value align for NEAR. Let me be your voice in the ecosystem and vote on the proposal that will help push the ecosystem forward. You can reach out to me on my telegram at Telegram: Contact @yuensid.
