[Closed] Tweet-to-BOS adoption campaign October 23

[Proposal] Tweet-to-BOS for BOS adoption campaign budget October 23

Hi Community,

We’re Wormhole3, the team that built Tweet-to-BOS. We’re submitting a proposal to MarketingDAO for the first time. The Tweet-to-BOS tool syncs users’ tweets to BOS (and NEAR Social) seamlessly, when user adds #BOS tag in their tweets. It is open sourced and free-to-use for users.

Achievements:
It has now been adopted by 250+ users (not sure why I’m not allowed to include links in this post, but you can view verifier.wormhole3.near on pikespeak for data) and contributed over 7.94k on-chain transactions (sender.wormhole3.near) according to Pikespeak, since its launch on July 4th. All this is achieved thanks to support from the community, with almost zero marketing from us.

This tool has demonstrated its value in increasing NEAR Social adoption even without any promotion, we think more work should be undertaken now to increase further adoption by driving campaigns to reach a wider audience. We’re seeking funding to continue providing services, and to support the campaign. The funding will be monthly, with KPI and measurement metrics.

Campaign
We will run a 3-week campaign on twitter to reward users for using tweet-to-BOS to post content about BOS which will also be synced to NEAR social, contributing to the on-chain transaction.

Week 1-2: Since it is the first time, our goal will be to get as many users to know and to adopt as possible with the given budget, so we will not limit the theme of the content.

Week 3: We will host a BOS content contest, reward users to tweet educational and promotional content about BOS (memes, onboarding videos, building with BOS tutorials etc. ). There will be airdrops for all participants and special prizes for the top 3 content by community vote (number of replies a post receives, the reply also needs to add #BOS which will also be synced on-chain).

We will seek partnership with regional DAOs and communities on NEAR, to join us in announcing the campaign on their social media channels. We also welcome any community who see this post and is interested in taking part to reach out to me.

We will monitor the feedback from community on the campaign and tweet-to-BOS tool, and incorporate user feedback into the ongoing development of our product and designing the next campaign.

Funding details:

  1. $100 for Twitter API

  2. $3000 of NEAR tokens for Week 1-2 airdrop to participants.

  3. $2000 of NEAR tokens for Week3 airdrop to participants. $300 in total as special prize for top 3 content.

  4. $3600 for 2 Community managers at $40/hour to manage community and execute campaign, which include copywriting, prepare campaign content and materials, social media and medium posts, twitter space AMA and manage questions and feedback 24/7.

  5. $1760 for Partnerships at $40/hour to BD to ecosystem partners to expand the reach of the campaign, and to develop relation for long term collab so we have more communities using tweet-to-BOS to build their own campaigns which would accelerate adoption, to produce regular content update on socials, and assist in campaign execution.

  6. $1820 for one DevOps / Backend Engineer at $70/hr to maintain the smooth running of services, for debugging and resolving issues with the API to resume sync asap, and to support campaign data management and execute airdrops.

Metrics for measuring success

  1. We expect to onboard at least 900 new unique users, with user acquisition cost at 6u per user. The new user adoption are confirmed by binding of account with tweet-to-BOS on-chain. This should bring monthly on-chain transaction to over 10k.

  2. We aim for user retention rate for 4-8 weeks to be 60%, it is currently at around 30%-50% as the DAU fluctuates day to day with no activities or campaigns.

Some clarifications and future plans

  1. We are only requesting a small portion of API costs
  2. We have developed and have been paying for to maintain the services for 4 months at no cost to NEAR, the service has been entirely free so far
  3. We know that providing incentive for user acquisition and retention is necessary but not sustainable for the long term. We will be taking this opportunity to seek partnership with ecosystem builders and communities, so we can work with them to bring mass adoption of BOS. We would expect the cost spent on airdrop campaigns each month to lower gradually as we move from user acquisition to community development for retention. Any assistance you can provide in this regard like link us up with the teams would be much appreciated as well.
  4. Tweet to BOS was built as an infrastructure to support mass adoption of BOS, the best scenario is for more communities and projects to use it for their own campaigns, which would be much more effective than just our team alone. So our strategy is to begin Business Development to bring partners to use it for adoption so we can focus more on developing new features for tweet-to-BOS.

Thank you for your proposal

Your initiative looks awesome, and I love the concept and process for the campaign, but it would be super strong if you could colab and join this team to work together and help burst the BOS adaptation. https://gov.near.org/t/discoverbos-the-b-o-s-reference-from-resources-to-marketing-oct/36523

Furthermore, MDAO has a hard cap of 10k for proposals.

Unfortunately, no from my side.

Hey @vivianslothnn thanks for the proposal. Echoing the mention of the $10K cap mentioned by MDAO advisor @Bakaka.

It is also not typical for the MarketingDAO to approve the maximum amount for new initiatives or first-time proposers. It is important to demonstrate success with a smaller amount of funding so we can understand how the team works, evaluate results and then allocate future NEAR Community funding if approved based on current KPIs recommended by the NF, NDC and ecosystem.

What is the most important aspect of this proposal? Is there a smaller part specifically related to marketing/growth that also aligns with the MDAO KPIs that you can propose at first? If not, there may be other avenues for funding in the ecosystem that will be a better fit.

Hi @Bakaka, nice to meet you and thanks for the feedback.

I’ve looked at the team you recommended, it’s pretty cool! I think we can definitely work with them on a campaign to incentivize more high value content for BOS.

But I think their focus is more on devs, and creating quality content themselves. Our target is more towards general users, for everyone to create. The value of tweet-to-BOS is in leveraging twitter user base and provide easy onboarding process. Many users tweet multiple times a day, if they see that they can post to BOS at the same time, and there is incentive for them to do so, it’ll be a very easy first step into BOS. Increased amount of content about BOS on twitter will bring more users and all this contribute to on-chain activity.

Given the funding cap and also we should demonstrate success with smaller funding for first time. I’m amending the proposal as follows:

Revised Proposal

We will run a 3-week campaign, to reward users to tweet content about BOS by adding #BOS to their tweets, which will also be synced to NEAR social, contributing to the on-chain transaction and distribution on Twitter.

Since it is the first time, our goal will be to get as many users to know and to adopt as possible with the given budget, so we will not limit the theme of the content. We will encourage people to tweet educational and promotional content about BOS, and also curate good content daily (like from DiscoverBOS) for people to see and share.

We’ll announce the campaign jointly with regional DAOs such as Vietnam, Korea, China etc. and teams like DiscoverBOS so it’s broadcasted as much as possible. We have partnered with over 60 projects outside of NEAR ecosystem, we will also seek their partnership so we can bring more new users to NEAR.

Revised Funding details:
We changed airdrop, reduced airdrop amount and reduced the pay for team to execute campaign as much as possible.

  1. $100 for Twitter API
  2. $1500 of NEAR tokens for airdrop to participants.
  3. $2800 for 2 Community managers at $40/hour to manage community and execute campaign, which include copywriting, prepare campaign content and materials, social media and medium posts, share good content daily, twitter space AMA and manage questions and feedback 24/7.
  4. $1600 for Partnerships at $40/hour to expand the reach of the campaign, to develop relation for long term collab so we have more communities using tweet-to-BOS to build their own campaigns which would accelerate adoption, and assist in campaign execution.
  5. $1820 for one DevOps / Backend Engineer at $70/hr to maintain the smooth running of services, for debugging and resolving issues with the API to resume sync asap, and to support campaign data management and execute airdrops.

Metrics for measuring success

  1. We expect to onboard at least 300 new unique users, with user acquisition cost at 5u per user. (We will provide some incentive ourselves and try to seek sponsors, so to bring down the funding amount and user acquisition cost for NEAR). New user is defined by registered NEAR wallet, and contributed to on-chain transaction. We expect monthly on-chain transaction to be around 4k. The completion of KPI can be verified by on-chain data here Pikespeak NEAR analytics

  2. We aim for user retention rate for 4-8 weeks to be 60%, it is currently at around 30%-50% as the DAU fluctuates day to day with no activities or campaigns.

  • Revised requested amount in USD 7820

Hi @so608 nice to meet you and thanks for the feedback!

The proposal and our tool is all about marketing/growth actually. The proposal is quite simple idea, a campaign to reward people for using tweet-to-BOS, so we can bring more users and transactions to the ecosystem.

Tweet-to-BOS is a very easy onboarding tool for twitter users to join NEAR, just add #BOS to tweets, and it syncs on-chain. Increased amount of content about BOS on twitter will bring more users and all this contribute to on-chain activity.

Noted on the cap and smaller amount at first. I’m amending the proposal as follows:
