[PROPOSAL - direct funding] $10k for Social Good Activations @ Consensus 2024

Near Digital Collective Direct Funding Application - Social Good Activation Network (SGA Network)

Introduction

While the NDC Trust has been distributing approximately $500k USD per month to various communities and builders globally, there has not been a proactive effort to ensure that a portion of those funds are dedicated to giving back to the Web3 community as a whole. This proposal aims to change that by placing a stronger focus on social good. Utilizing the Near Protocol blockchain for impact tracking, we intend to enhance transparency and accountability in social impact projects.

Section 6. Experience

Section 7. DAO/Project Charter/White or Litepaper and Goals

  • Project Overview:

    • SGA Network to attend events: Supported by the NEAR ecosystem to host Social Good Activations (SGAs) using Minsta Template.
    • Engagement Strategy: Leverage Minsta for user posts to claim goods, targeting 150-300 users per activation with items like cold press shots and hygiene packs.
    • Target Demographics:
      1. Professionals (only cold press shots)
      2. Hackers/Devs (shots + hygiene packs)
      3. Marginalized community members (asked for goods + packs)
    • Innovative Engagement: “Request a Good” feature for future goods distribution, enhancing community interaction and support.
  • Mission and Vision Alignment with NDC:
Our mission is to allocate funds from the NDC Community Trust towards social good activations that leverage NEAR Protocol, aligning with the NDC’s goals to widen adoption of NEAR and ensure public goods are supported.

    Vision:

    • Promoting Social Equity: Utilizing the NEAR Protocol to create accessible and beneficial opportunities for diverse demographics, with transparent tracking of impact.
    • Community Empowerment: Providing practical benefits through activations, which also offer insights into blockchain’s utility in everyday scenarios.
    • Enhancing Blockchain Visibility and Utility: Focusing on engaging and impactful activations to improve public understanding and perception of blockchain as a tool for social change, highlighting NEAR’s low fees and high scalability.
  • Problem to Solve:
The NDC Community Trust provides significant funding across the NEAR ecosystem but lacks targeted initiatives for tangible social impact. This gap in strategic fund allocation misses opportunities for promoting social equity and community empowerment through visible and impactful projects.

Our proposal seeks to bridge this gap by directing funds towards social good activations that are verifiable on NEAR Protocol. These efforts will not only enhance community applications like Mintbase and NEAR Social, but also set a precedent for utilizing blockchain technology for social impact. The focus will be on creating measurable, beneficial outcomes for the community, thereby improving the effectiveness and accountability of the NDC’s investments.

  • Goals and KPIs:

Section 8. Budget

  • Three-Month Projected Budget:
    • SGA Activations: $5,000 per event (up to 5-6 activations)
    • Development Costs: Approx. $1,500 per event (initial higher setup cost of $2,000 - $5000+)
      • Minsta Deployment: $500
      • Maintenance and Updates: $500 - $1000
      • Feature Additions: $2,000 (Including Sybil resistance and user-generated content features/voting)

Section 9. Project/DAO Longevity

  • Funding Requirements: Continuous funding initially, with plans for sustainability through a digital assets license and community contributions.
  • Sustainability Plans: Post-initial SGAs, detailed plans will be developed for self-sufficiency including validator operations and licensing.
  • Potential Roadblocks: Main challenge is securing consistent funding to maintain operational capabilities until sustainability measures are implemented.
