[accepted] Seminar - Cultural War: Brazil, creep battle

This lecture aims about the political concept of Cultural War. Usually that research problem is a cultural study on sociological debate. But now we have a conservative group in Brazil using the real Cultural War to promote an aesthetical agenda around religious world and general groups with young people feel like Templares in Mall Centers. Those three sets after World War II make the Cultural War a different problem how was in Middle Ages with the Crusades on the religious question adds itself ethnics and sexual demands. We must show that ancient conflict points have a confuse historical in a cultural community when do not care a civilization part on the political world. Also, consideration theory by the religious militants do not accept they ca does not participate in western culture as a protagonist.

Everton Maciel is a Brazilian professor, PhD in Philosophy from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUC/RS), in the area of Ethics and Political Philosophy, having developed a sandwich internship abroad (PDSE) at Birkbeck, University of London; Master’s in Philosophy from the Federal University of Pelotas, with a Capes scholarship, in the line of research Fundamentation and Criticism of Morals; and Bachelor of Philosophy (UFPel). He is currently an adjunct professor in the Degree in Philosophy at the Federal University of Amapá (Unifap).

The seminar will take place on April 28th, online.
