Hello Dears,

We have recently completed our original, one-hour documentary, Voices of the Wisdomkeepers, featuring four prolific indigenous elders from Turtle Island (North-America) and West Africa sharing wisdom-keys for creating a better world for future generations.

Over the past few months, we have have held 6 screenings, receiving very positive feedback. Building upon this new release, our goals for this upcoming month are listed below, taking steps towards our greater vision – to establish a sovereign media channel on Web3, as a home for our continuously growing audience, including interactive educational and community dialogue components, especially highlighting the alignment of sovereignty and decentralization with indigenous values, in a way that people across the world can connect with.

Goals This Month:

  • Host a documentary event with our community, including the filmmaker and a guest indigenous elder, engage with the community for talking circle dialogue. This will be an all-ages event with youth participants encouraged.
  • Document at the upcoming event: 5th Annual Medicine Gathering, - in collaboration with the Pacific Northwest Council of Water Protectors, an indigenous elder-led event. We would document 3 elders, which would also given use for the community. This would be a part of our larger goal of continuing to gather elder wisdom content for an ongoing Voices of Wisdom series
  • Continue to explore and develop our offerings for workshops and other educational opportunities (utilizing our new documentary), at the college and high-school level, along with further coordination for opportunities in the upcoming months. We will also move forward with collaborations plans with our community contacts at the Consuelo “La Peña” Cultural Center in Berkeley, CA and the Bloom Network in Fort Collins, CO and contacting colleges

Budget & Projects: $1940

Council work / coordination:

  • Continued planning and submission of proposals to our community contacts and communities that would be interested in hosting Voices of the Wisdomkeepers showings and workshops: $400
  • Coordination and communication by the main filmmaker of the documentary including involvement with talking circles: $160

Documentary at Water Protector Medicine Gathering - Documenting 3 elders

  • Video production including a 2-camera set up, shotgun microphones and all professional equipment (half-day): $550
  • Editing: completion of 3 video clips (between 2-5 minutes each) of Elder wisdom. These videos will be part of the ongoing Voices of Wisdom series: $240

Screening event with talking circle

  • Organization and coordination of the event: $200
  • Creation of promotional and marketing materials: $150
  • Space rental: $140
  • Honorarium for a local indigenous elder to be present at the talking circle: $100

$1940 Total

Metrics for Success:

  • Successful hosting of 1 documentary screening event with attendees participating in a community talking circle.
  • Completion of 3 short videos (between 2-5 minutes each) of elder wisdom to be added to our channels.
  • Onboarding 1 new Seven Vision DAO member, providing education and introduction to the NEAR ecosystem and Web3.

Additional Goals:

  • Continued development and following up with contact leads for educational opportunities with our documentary.
  • Continued education and transition of current members into mentorship roles, to offer teaching about the NEAR ecosystem and Web3.

Thank you @creativesdao-council :yellow_heart:

It’s great, there are no any information about Near in the video. I couldn’t find any links on Near on your website as well.

How many people in your community if you want to get $400 rewards for “planning and submission” and extra $160 for “coordination and communication.”?

Why media production studio website doesn’t have professional equipment? Why should Near Community pay for microphones?

What kind of information about Near Ecosystem will be included in the video clips?

It would be great to see the invoice.

What is his “Honorarium” is too high? Is it possible to find a cheaper elder ?

Hi @Dacha, below are our responses:

This project was not supported by NEAR. It was completed soon before we were introduced to the NEAR community and set up our DAO.

The $400 is for at least 10 hours of submission work, including all research and filling out submission forms. $160 for “Coordination and communication by the main filmmaker of the documentary including involvement with talking circles” is exactly what it says. Those are done by 2 different members of our community.

We already have our own professional equipment and we are not asking for a rental. That budget item says "Video production including a 2-camera set up, shotgun microphones and all professional equipment (half-day): $550 – that is referring to video production with 2 videographers, with all professional equipment included.

We will add “Thank you to” or “Sponsored by NEAR” at the end of the video, as well as in social media posts with tags. Our work is highlighting the alignment of sovereignty and decentralization with indigenous values, and we are moving towards our goals of establishing a channel on Web3, as a home for our continuously growing audience, which will in turn promote the NEAR community.

4 hours @ $35/hour weekend rate @ Awakenings Wellness Center. See studio rates here.

We believe that is a fair honorarium for an elder to take half of a day to visit with us, including time, travel and gas money. An elder we hope to invite lives 40 minutes away.

Dacha, appreciate your keen eye to the bottom line, as always.

A typical rate for indigenous elders is no lower than $300 and can go into the thousands.

Sorry, USD 1940 is not a reasonable reward for that.

Have a great day!

Hi @Dacha,

When you say:

and

This comes across as disrespectful to our community and our work.

This is disrespectful to indigenous elders and inferring that only videos that specifically teach about or promote NEAR have a return on value.

I hope that this is representative of your opinion and not the NEAR community consensus, or the Creatives DAO council, of which you are not a member.

What we are creating has value and our proposal is fair, considering that:

  • We will be creating 3 new videos featuring indigenous elders.
  • We will be organizing and hosting an event including a documentary screening and an indigenous elder-led talking circle.
  • We are seeking new opportunities for the work to be seen by wider audiences.

Our work exemplifies excellence and is offering keys to our current paradigm shift towards sovereignty and how that is aligned with indigenous value-systems, of which we have a lot to learn from. Sponsorship from NEAR would be beneficial to both parties since we will promote the NEAR community, as sponsors of our work, and engage the conversation toward decentralization, cryptocurrency and Web3.

Thank you and have a great day as well.

What value for Near and Near Community of you want to add at the end:

It seems your commercial project, and you’re looking for a way of funding.

Why should Near be a sponsor of the work?

This came across as disrespectful to the Near community when you did nothing for our community, and 7 hrs after introducing post, you requested 2k from Creativity and 2K from Marketing DAO. It would be great if your commercial studio would bring value to our community before requesting any rewards.
Have a great day.

Exactly :+1:

No, our funded video project would be released for free and the community gathering would also be a free offering.

As already mentioned – Our work is offering keys to our current paradigm shift towards sovereignty and how that is aligned with indigenous value-systems, of which we have a lot to learn from. Sponsorship from NEAR would be beneficial to both parties since we will promote the NEAR community, as sponsors of our work, and engage the conversation toward decentralization, cryptocurrency and Web3.

If NEAR or Creatives DAO is not interested in funding our proposal that is no problem. But again, that is for those in council positions to decide.

“The Creatives Astro DAO’s purpose is to help support the creative Guilds/DAO’s within the NEAR ecosystem.”

We are following the guidelines for submitting a proposal.

We are seeking creative funding support for our DAO, we are continuously learning about protocol and are open to engage with the community and collaborate.

False.

We are a small group of 3 council members who have dedicated a lot of time and energy over the past 4 months to learn about Web3, the NEAR forum and all related aspects. We do bring value to the community, such as in our creative skills, developed over the past 10+ years, and this is the beginning of the possibilities, for connecting and collaborating with community members. We are grateful for the opportunities that NEAR is providing to us and hundreds of other DAOs.

Could you please promote the Near Ecosystem for free (couple months) and then request rewards?

What the capacity to track results?

$3200, sorry.

Community paid for the lessons. Please, return the money to Community with free-of-charge videos.

Hi @Dacha

We will promote the Near ecosystem moving forward, through projects that are being supported by Near.

We plan to create NFTs that will links to create wallets moving forward, which will be promoted to new audiences that Near has not yet reached.

Thanks for sending this! This is helpful.

$3180

We were not paid for learning. We took our own time, which has been hundreds of hours, at this point.

Thanks for taking the time to share with us what is important to you in funding proposals, @Dacha, which is probably the case for others in the Near community as well.

We are continuously learning and if our work is of interest to the Creatives DAO council we’d love to collaborate and begin the conversation for how it can be a mutually beneficial relationship. Peace and blessings :blue_heart: :fire:
