[Approved] partnership with Dystopia Labs for Open Web Community Con in Apr

TLDR of the proposal:
$15K sponsorship for covering all operational, promotion and logistics costs of our collab with Dystopia Labs (Hsin-Ju). (https://dystopialabs.com/)

This conference/online summit will be the kick-off event of our upcoming Open Web Community Hack and happens right after Open Web Collective demo day.

Detailed proposal - max 450 words, if more info is needed link to docs:

Potential ROI/impact on the NEAR Ecosystem:

Expected participants/registrations: 1000-1500

Huge promo opportunity for both Open Web Community Hack and Open Web Collective batch 3.

The goal is to establish NEAR as one of the main pioneers and supporters of Open Web movement with emphasis on communities and technologies that power open online permissionless communities (DAOs, progressive onboarding, social tokens, …).

We are doubling down on three main areas where NEAR has technical PMF: DAOs, NFTs, and Social Tokens. (DNS)

Amount of funding:
15000 USD

Project lead (internal/external):
Lead (internal): NiMA, support (internal): Yadira and Dani
Support (community): Simona Pop as main driver of content curation around DNS topics
Lead organiser (external): Hsin-Ju from Dystopia Labs

(Kudos  to @Cameron for the intro and connection to Dystopia Labs!)

(Polls: one for Community Council members and another one open to everyone with trust_level_1 or above)

Community Council Poll
  • Yes
  • No
  • Abstain

0 voters

Open Community Poll (min trust_level_1 required)

Voting and quorum thresholds:

<2K$ - 1X Yes - no minimum quorum (* quorum defined as min number of members needed for the vote to be valid)
2-10K$ - 2X Yes - no min quorum
10-30K$ - 3X Yes - min quorum 4 of 7 - 4X members should vote in either direction
Above 30K$ requires Erik or Illia’s additional approval (Head of NF/Chairman of NFC)
Above 100K$ requires NEAR Foundation Council approval

Any meaningful support with the logistics and operation side is definitely most welcome

From the proposal:
"…and doing marketing in order to ensure that a good number of quality registrants will sign up. "

Just curious if we have a ballpark on how many people they’re reaching out to? As in, maybe a mailing list or something with say x number of people of which y% conversion would get us z number of attendees?

Would this be the result of just Dystopia’s marketing or does this also include our marketing+outreach efforts for the conference?

The entire conference will be recorded and the sponsor will have access to all session recordings after the event.

Also, another question that’s probably not super high priority- where would the content live after the conference? Can we upload them exclusively on NEAR Youtube channel?

I can ask Hsin Ju to come and share more but our primary source of participants will be the 15K mailing list of Dystopia Labs. DL will act as a partner not just behind the scenes event organiser

Content will live on our Crowdcast and YouTube channel (also most likely multicast to Twitter and Twitch)
