[Approved] Merch for NFConference in April 2022 in Lisbon

Ok, from my side this sounds great. @LuisInfante I will agree to this! 0,5 sounds good.

Thank you. How should I proceed now @David_NEAR ? Should I submit a poll to the marketingdao or can I just request payout via the marketingdao astro??

Or will you guys create a neardrop campaign with 1700 neardrops with 0.5n each

Thanks for answering

This hasn’t been approved by @marketingdao-council as of yet, so best to wait for it to be moved to Approved by council members. Shouldn’t be too long I imagine.

Hi @marianeu love the ideas presented in this proposal, particularly using real world use cases to onboard members to NEAR.

Would like to echo @David_NEAR comments regarding funding cap of $10,000. This is partly to ensure that we can provide marketing support to as many projects as possible.

Happy to Approve if you update your post with the revised amount being requested to fit this.

Hey @David_NEAR and @cryptocredit

yes, @LuisInfante, me and the whole team would be very happy for 0.5N x 1700

would you guys like to create the campaign on neardrop yourself ? It’s not approved yet right  lmk if we can do something to help.

thank you in advance

@marianeu Happy to support your project – it looks like the amounts have been updated. Thanks for doing that.

In terms of the Neardrop campaign, typically approved projects carry out their own implementation.

@marketingdao-council can you confirm that that would be something @marianeu and her team would need to do?

Just struggling to understand the campaign.

You will create 1700K Caps. As in baseball caps- hats? Those hats will be placed in the bag of attendees and then it’s up to them to register. Wouldn’t it have been easier to partner with the event to secure registrations of a near wallet to airdrop?

This requires 1700 unique prints that require each person to redeem or value expires within 48 hours?

If these caps aren’t redeemed, then the money is just funneled to the creator. Which requires many additional steps for 1700 people to take in the midst of a conference to complete.

It’s a cool concept, there’s just a lot of extra steps required for someone just to revieve a free airdrop.

It’s a no from me.

Oh I wished I saw this before, we have a serious time problem.

The caps are baseball caps, yes. But we decided not to do them this time because of price & time issues…

you know when you enter a conference and you get a goodies bag? There’ll be the postcard. If they do not redeem the 0.5 at that moment, they might when they come to our booth. If not then, then they lost their opportunity.

But then we cancel the campaign and all the money goes back to the campaign creator. That’s why we were proposing you guys to create it, so no money is lost!

We are completely aware that itll be a very annoying job to stick the qr codes to the postcard we are planning to have inside the bag. Let me give you a preview: NOT THE FINAL DESIGN YET:

I do not understand where you see the extra steps.
Options:

  1. person receives bag, sees postcard, scans QR code, redeems / creates new wallet.
  2. Person takes the bag, doesn’t see postcard, comes by our booth, we onboard them, redeems QR code.
  3. Person does not want to make a wallet (whatever reason) takes it home. We cancel the campaign after 48 hours. QR code is useless.

LMK if you have more questions @Klint PLEASE. I am a little concerned about the time.

Thank you so much for your time,

maria

Hi Klint,

The Campaign involves the sale of NFTs in the shopping district of the non-fungible conference in Lisbon, where we are partnering with a Portuguese vintage products store. The idea is that these postcards are a pass for all-conference visitors to create a NEAR wallet and be able to buy products with NEAR in our marketplace.

The postcard that Maria shared is a draft, it will supposedly have the near logo on the QR or on the side, we thought the Non-Fungible-Conference would be a great opportunity to work towards mass adoption for NEAR in Lisbon.

We are actively working on activating the local community in Lisbon, giving workshops at our office:

&
Doing an NFC after-party in collaboration with @vandal and @frnvpr from Incubadora Dao.

Please reconsider.

Hey guys ,

Although @Klint is opposed, it looks like this is already Approved and has consensus from other Council Members.

You can go ahead and request the funds with the usual process.

@LuisInfante @marianeu

Thank you @David_NEAR we posted a poll on the marketing dao on astro but there is only one down vote from klint. Should I re submit ?

It can still pass without Taylor’s vote, so should be all good. No need to create another poll.

Just wanted to follow up on my previous comment to say that although the proposal has been Approved, it still has to recieve a majority vote from council members on Astro before you will receive a payout.

I have highlighted the quote from your reply to the comments from @Klint because I believe that it shows a major change to the original proposal.

If you no longer intend to go ahead with the baseball caps i will not be able to support this request.

The marketing DAO needs to be sure that when we evaluate a proposal that it will be carried through in the way it is presented.

Hi @cryptocredit,

as the conference is approaching, we had no option to continue with the caps. We still have our booth, we still have a partnership with A vida portuguesa https://www.avidaportuguesa.com/ and we still believe it has major success potential.

What can we do to make it possible?

Hi @marianeu

Just been discussing your proposal again in the Marketing DAO tg. We do not want to have a negative impact on your work and wish you success with the event.

I will now be voting to Approve this on Astro

BTW please take a look at your proposal on Astro. @Dacha has asked for your target wallet for the payout. You can add this in the question section. Thanks

One other aspect of this conversation that I wanted to recommend for this (and really for all proposals going forward – this is not limited to this proposal alone) is to return any unused airdrop/bonus funds to the MarketingDAO after the event.

I also encourage you to share images, video and other content from the event with us when you submit your report.

Hi Marianeu,

Few thoughts and questions:

  • I don’t think that there is much of a difference between the cap or the postcard as the customer journey would remain the same. There are some questions around: what happens if a user already has a wallet, why would a user want to create a wallet - what is the value you are creating for the user or the pain point you are solving?

  • While it is true that any unredeemed funds can be retrieved by the creator (returned to Marketing DAO) I actually think this is a dangerous way of approaching a campaign that could inadvertently be designed to fail by minimising downside. Resources that go into the campaign are much more than just funds - this proposal has been mobilising the entire Council, placing workload on us to deploy Neardrop (TBC), opening a lot of questions on how to get funds back (from an accounting and legal point, admin nightmare), and risking the reputation of the standards by which Marketing DAO approves proposal.

  • It is also worth noting that Mintbase has been a recipient of grants for well over a year. Guilds and community groups are under increasing scrutiny and pressure to become self sufficient - why is Mintbase and a project not able to a) cover its own marketing expenses? b) have a reasonable ROI on the significant funding you have received to date

  • To add context to all of the above, the Mintbase UI/UX has been lacking for a long time. While the team is aware and working on it, there has not been any meaningful improvements. There are some that would say that it is due to this limited UI/UX that previous high-profile campaigns have had limited impact.

Suggestion: At Eth Denver all participants were given a QR code which could be redeemed for food from food trucks. There was a lengthy accompanying paper with instructions (download MetaMask, add token, etc.) and this was done on Testnet because Arbitrum is too expensive. This is a simple example of how: you build an experience around something a user wants (everyone gets hungry) and we could showcase NEAR’s superior tx speed, cost and wallet experience.

I understand that these funds can be used to buy local goods at the conference, which would indeed be a great opportunity to showcase technology and onboard people assuming the user experience is actually good (a bad experience will push people in the opposite direction). While it is important to foster relationships with the local artists communities, we must not forget about the tech.

Due to time constraints and pre-existing commitments, I’ll be supporting this proposal. However, I’d like the points above to be considered for subsequent proposals.

Dear @satojandro thank you so much for you extensive comment & very constructive criticism.

Expect an awesome report from us, with numbers of wallets created, funds sent back to the marketingdao which weren’t used, and videos and pictures of people buying physical objects via credit card integration - storing the nft on their wallet!

we are launching a soft launch for engaged users this month. rest assured that our 4 people dev team is cranking like crazy with very few holidays on our backend. We are getting there

I will inform myself and talk to the CEOs and check this out. I understand your suggestions perfectly.

Thank you so much! @so608 I will be editing and adding the refund of any unused funds, and taking out the caps of the proposal. Thank you so much.

@cryptocredit also wanted to thank you for reconsidering! I answered Dacha there, the wallet is mintbase2.near

People that alraedy have a wallet will be getting a 0.5N present at a conference. They can spend that on any dapp on near  or hold on to it, see it rise, and buy more  I understand your point of course.

I said thank you many times but will do it one last time. Thank you.
