Introducing the Wild Users Interview Podcast by Silicon Craftsmen (UXisNEAR)

tl:dr

The Silicon Craftsmen Guild is launching a new podcast called Wild User Interviews (WUI) as part of a strategy to introduce Product Thinking into everyday crypto conversations. The podcast is designed to be fun and approachable to gain mass appeal.

The name is weird. Why?

We are weird, so we didn’t have to try extra hard to come up with the name. In fact, the brief period we tried to come up with something ‘normal’ was quite challenging.

Let’s be honest. There’s a lot of boring crap out there. If we only have a few seconds to grab your attention, we hope Wild User Interviews does the trick.

Wild

The Wild element is about setting expectations. We want to meet the users where they are (in this case out ‘users’ are both our listeners and the guests we will be interviewing). While some of them may be in an actual jungle, most of them will be walking the dog or commuting to work. Hence why we are going for a fun, unstructured, open-ended conversation between two friends which is easy to follow.

User Interviews

The User Interviews element is about embedding Product Thinking into everything we do. Product Managers conduct a lot of these interviews with potential users to gain insights and validate hypotheses.

Open Source User Interviews

At Silicon Craftsmen, we want to crowdsource valuable information from a wide range of actors which may be valuable to others in their journey. We are interested in getting to know the human side of our guests, as well as placing information into actionable frameworks that help us make sense of the rapidly evolving crypto world.

Who are the Users?

We have a broad range of target users in mind we would like to interview, including but not limited to:

  • Product ‘Normies’: Product Designers, UX Researchers, creative problem solvers currently working in 2.0 but interested in transitioning or contributing to Web 3.0.
  • Innovators and Thought Leaders in Web 3.0: who’s building what and what are the key forces that move us forward or threaten to hold us back,
  • Community Contributors: end-users of dApps, other Guild contributors, and everything in between.

Entertaining Education

We are equally inspired by the ‘insights-per-minute’ metric used by a16z as by long-form podcasts such as Tim Ferris and The Knowledge Project.

However, acknowledging that crypto can often be seen as tribal or too technical, we are prioritising being fun and approachable. We are aiming to educate and inspire but we don’t want to force conversations in unnatural ways or kill the vibe if everyone is smiling. The sort of personal gain you would get from sharing a coffee or beer with friends engaged in insightful conversations and the occasional dad jokes.

Platform

Unless and until we get offered a lucrative deal to be exclusive to any particular podcast network, we will be publishing our content on most of them.

We are experimenting with several podcasting tools which facilitate multichannel upload and metrics. We will be revising our strategy accordingly to ensure we are minimising production time while maximising engagement.

Next Steps

We have a list of potential guests we are reaching out to soon. If you are one of them, we encourage you to kindly accept our humble proposal.

If you believe you have an amazing story and banter potential within you, and you’ve been waiting for too long for us to reach out, please let us know so we can schedule a call.
